„At the Del Istmo, we work with seven different subspecies of Brown-throated Conures. I´m lucky enough to introduce you to the unique mutations of the Venezuelan subspecies. You can see the true blue colour with the partner, which is probably dilute (this will be specified later). So we have two new colours. We are very looking forward to the next breeding season, and we hope we will be successful with this pair.

Cacatua ophthalmica at the Del Istmo Conservation Center Panama

Like the other cockatoo species, Blue-eyed Cockatoos are intelligent and social birds. They require significant mental stimulation, physical activity, and social interaction to thrive. They live in a large aviary at the Del Istmo. We provide them whole coconuts or wide tree branches to keep those cockatoos busy. They like to work with their beaks for a long time. Beautiful species!
