Panama is undergoing shortages of many things because roads have been blocked to stop all transport of people and supplies in Panama. The protesters are waiting for a Supreme Court decision to declare unconstitutional the Mineral Mining contract with a Canadian Mining firm. The decision will be made 23 or 24 Nov. If that decision is not reached than war will break out in Panama.

I have been telling everyone the Raquel’s Ark was established for the care of the exotic wildlife of Panama. MiAmbiante has relocated the animals into a larger sanctuary where they will be soft released into the wild. My prayers are with the animals. They were my children, now they have moved on.

Most of the animals have left Raquel’s Ark today. MiAmbiente has relocated the animals to larger sanctuaries where they will be cared for and have a soft release. Thank you very much for your past support. Pancha the white face Capuchin and Jojo the Kinkajou is still here.

Looks like Raquel’s Ark has gained a new resident. His name is Otto. Someone dropped him at the Ark 5 months ago but he refused to come inside the property so I feed him outside the property. Whenever I tried bringing him in he would cry. He took a two day hiatus a couple of days ago and I worried about him. When he finally returned today I took him in and he didn’t cry the whole day. I bought a harness for him and it looks like he decided to stay at Raquel’s Ark this time. We will see. He is a very good dog.

The young female raccoon that was hit by a Taxi is showing amazing signs of recovery. The Taxi driver showed a huge amount of compassion for the Raccoon. He called me as soon as he could to find out how to bring the Raccoon to me. He lives in David and I told him to take it to Dr Crespo for evaluation. The driver not only waited for the Doctors results he brought him to Volcán at no charge. The initial fee was $20. Dr Crespo did a home visit two weeks later to evaluate her recovery. You can call on Dr Crespo in David on WhatsApp +507 6480 7273

I took in a raccoon who was hit by a taxi several days ago. The Driver called me from David because he had compassion for her. At my direction he took the raccoon to Dr Crespo for treatment. When the raccoon was released he brought her to me for care. I hesitated to post this untill the raccoon’s prognosis was favorable. I give her 120 CC Ensure three times a day along with 2.5 CC. Panadol for pain. Keep her in your prayers

An update concerning the Raccoon. She is drinking Ensure snd Panadol for pain. I am considering euthanize because she has remained very stiff. The total vet cost will be $45. I can accept a PayPal donation [email protected]. Thanks.

The capuchin monkeys are Raquel’s Ark were kept as pets. The owners no longer wanted them because the monkeys became aggressive. The reason for aggression most likely occurred from bad treatment and very small space. Since coming to Raquel’s Ark they have increased space, food. The baby, “Benji” was born at Raquel’s Ark on April 9th 2022. He is with his mother “Daisy” who is 5 years old. Female capuchin monkeys are able to have babies at 5 years old. The gestation period is 6 months. The capuchin monkey can become pregnant every year or two years. Capuchin monkeys can live into their 20s or 30s.

The single female capuchin monkey is “Dixie”. She is four years old.

Henry and George are squirrel monkeys at Raquel’s Ark. Henry was abused by other squirrel monkeys at Punta Bórica so he was brought here for security. George was captured as a pet, was no longer wanted because he bites, and brought to me. George no longer bites. George is 4 months old and treats Henry as his mother even though Henry is also a male. George initially spent full time with me to become more comfortable. Henry would continue to come in at nights to sleep with us in my bed. George didn’t accept a diaper but Henry did. Now both Henry and George spend time together outside full time. George and Henry both enjoy fruit and cashew nuts. I bought a water fountain that continuously filters the water and recirculates it. I spend approximately $100 per week to support my guests. I never know from day to day when more guests will arrive. If you would like to make donations to support my efforts you may through PayPal, Buy Me A Coffee, Google Pay or Apple Pay. My account is [email protected]. Thanks in advance.
