Monty, an 11-year-old Maltese 🐶, was brought to the clinic for emergency because he was unable to urinate due to a blockage caused by stones in his urethra. This condition must have been extremely painful for Monty, as he struggled and experienced bloody urination 🩸.
After a thorough evaluation, we discovered that his blood values were not within normal ranges, indicating that his condition was taking a toll on his overall health 💔. Monty’s owners were faced with a very difficult decision, as surgery carried certain risks given his age and condition. However, after carefully weighing their options ⚖️, they ultimately decided to proceed with the surgery to give Monty the best chance of recovery 🙏.
We performed a urethrostomy, a surgical procedure that involves creating a new permanent opening for urine passage, bypassing the blocked urethra. ⚠️ Please note: the following content may contain graphic material related to veterinary surgery.
The procedure was successful 🎉, and Monty is now on the road to recovery. He is eating well 🍴 and showing great improvement 🐾.
If your pet is experiencing difficulty urinating, blood in the urine, or signs of discomfort, it’s essential to have them checked by a veterinarian as soon as possible 🩺. These symptoms may indicate serious underlying conditions such as bladder or urethral stones, which require prompt treatment ⏳.
We can provide guidance on lifestyle changes, dietary adjustments, and preventive measures to help reduce the risk of urinary blockages in the future. Early intervention can make a significant difference in your pet’s health and quality of life ❤️🐕.

Nasogastric tube placement is vital in supporting the nutrition of sick cats without appetite. This is a minimally invasive procedure that allows easy administration of liquid diets. This also reduces the risk of aspiration as food bypasses the pharynx directly into the stomach.
Force feeding can now be skipped with NG tube placement and therefore provides a more comfortable feeding session.

Blood pressure (BP) measurement using a sphygmomanometer in pets is essential for diagnosing and managing several health conditions. Hypertension (high blood pressure) can occur in pets, particularly in older animals, and may be associated with diseases like kidney failure, hyperthyroidism, heart disease, and certain endocrine disorders. Here are the key reasons why BP checks are important for pets. ❤️Early Detection of Disease: Monitoring BP can help detect underlying conditions like kidney or heart disease, which might not show obvious symptoms until they are advanced. ❤️Managing Chronic Conditions: Pets with conditions like diabetes or hyperthyroidism can develop hypertension, so regular BP checks are vital for managing these illnesses and preventing complications. ❤️Preventing Organ Damage: High blood pressure in pets can lead to damage to organs such as the heart, kidneys, eyes, and brain. Monitoring BP helps in preventing long-term damage. ❤️Anesthesia Monitoring: During surgery or other procedures requiring anesthesia, BP monitoring is crucial to ensure the pet’s circulatory system is stable.❤️Monitoring Treatment Response: For pets undergoing treatment for hypertension, regular BP checks help to adjust medications and ensure the treatment is effective.Routine BP checks, especially in aging or at-risk pets, can be a vital part of preventative care. #pets #vets #angelescitypampanga
This is Barkley, a 4-year-old Corgi, who initially presented with a laceration on his forepaw. His previous veterinarian did their best to treat him by surgically removing his 3rd phalanx, which is part of the toe and important for paw function. However, despite the surgery, Barkley began limping, and whenever he put weight on his forelimb, the surgical site became irritated, causing it to bleed and reopen repeatedly without proper healing. Barkley was brought to our clinic for further evaluation. After conducting several tests, including histopathology, we discovered that he had well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer that, while slow-growing, can be locally aggressive. To prevent the cancer from spreading further up the limb, we made the decision to amputate the entire forelimb. Barkley is now on the path to recovery, with a focus on ensuring his comfort and well-being. #vets #pets #vetsurgery
