Upgrade # 1
The clinic is now capable of detecting early stages of kidney disease. We can test for Symmetric Dimethylarginine (SDMA) using our Bionote Vcheck Analyzer. SDMA is a more specific, more sensitive and is therefore a more reliable biomarker for kidney disease versus the tradional creatinine and BUN tests. Why? Because SDMA is less affected by extrarenal factors like body condition, age, exercise and lean body mass. It is detected in the serum or plasma as early as when 25% of kidney function is affected (creatinine and BUN are elevated only after 75% of kidney function is already affected). This means that with regular check, we can avoid kidney disease or slow down its progression in our pets.
