THE REALITY BEHIND THE POUNDS IN THE PHILIPPINES
(A recap of some reports, long post, pls take time to read)
We have decided to spill the beans on the reports we've received. If ever we get hacked, you'll know why. :)
Permits are required under the BAI rules, however, the BAI does not really strictly impose the same. As we all know, 80% of the pounds are NOT BAI registered and A LOT of these pounds are the perpetrators of animal cruelty and animal neglect.
Pounds have such a bad reputation that these establishments have been labeled as "torture chambers", "concentration camps", and "hell for the animals".
In fact, 70% of the pounds in the Philippines are in the worst state, and if you enter, the smell of death will creep into you like a ghost.
Thankfully, there are some pounds that actually care and respect the animals.
Still...
Thus, the reports:
1. There are those Barangay Animal Holding Centers, which, to be honest, is another hell for the animals. The animals have no food, no water, swim in their own urine and f***s, and are forced to stay in cages that are so cramped, they can't even lie down.
2. Puppies, day old kittens, and pregnant dogs/cats are kept in the pounds without proper food and nutrition, no warmth, and no medication, which ultimately leads them to suffer a slow and painful death.
3. In one pound we went to, cellphones were confiscated, a staff follows you around to monitor your every move, and to tell you that they're rude is an understatement. Hence, from those actions, it just means that they are aware of the crimes they are committing.
4. In another pound, people in the area claim to see one pound staff SELLING dogs for meat every 3 am.
5. There's this one pound who allegedly feeds poison to the dogs and cats while wrapped in bread every week.
6. In a pound in the NCR, a reporter told us that the animals have turned into cannibalism to survive.
That's just a few. So this coming elections, VOTE WISELY.
