Animal abuse awareness!!
A 10-year old dog was presented in the clinic today with a deep lacerated wound in the right forelimb due to hacking (taga).
If you can't love them, then don't hurt them.
One night to go🥳🥳🥳 11.25.23
After 2 days of inappetence, and one night confinement, at last this parvo positive puppy now has an appetite.🥰🥰 Hoping for his fast recovery😌😇
Always remember, prevention is far better than cure. So have your pets vaccinated, furparents.❤️❤️
Perineal hernia is the displacement of pelvic and abdominal organs (such as intestines, bladder or fat) into the region surrounding the anus due to weakening or traumatic tear in the pelvic diaphragm. It commonly occurs in middle aged or older intact male dogs and rarely occur in cats and female dogs.
Signs include perineal swelling, constipation, tenesmus and dysuria.
Surgical correction is the treatment of choice but recurrence or complications are high.
The patient, named Brad, is a 6-year old intact male shih tzu. He had perineal hernia since december. Due to that, he had difficulty defecating. Last month, he underwent perineal herniorrhaphy procedure and castration at the same time.
UPDATE: One month after the surgery, according to the Owner, Brad can now defecate normally. Yehey to that!! He is still in diet restriction (high fiber and moisture) though.
We are continuously monitoring Brad and are in close contact with his furparent for more updates on his progress..
