𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗢 𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗦 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛 𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗧

Baguio City received a high rating in the 2023 Peace and Order Council Performance Audit, the Dept. of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Baguio City Field Office announced on Feb. 26, 2025.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong who chairs the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) welcomed the recognition saying it attests to the commitment and efforts poured in by the city government, line agencies, the private sector and the community in keeping the city peaceful, orderly and safe.

He committed to sustain the peacekeeping initiatives and programs especially against criminality, illegal drugs, insurgency, and violent extremism to achieve lasting peace as it is the backbone of all the city's aspirations contained in his administration's seven-point agenda namely environment, land use and energy; climate and disaster resilience; urban regeneration; youth empowerment; economic development and competitiveness; smart city management; and good governance.

The DILG Baguio Field Office under Director Millicent Cariño said the audit "assessed the functionality of the CPOC in relation to its compliance with DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2019-143, titled Omnibus Guidelines for POCs."

The audit also serves as a tool to evaluate "the outcomes and impact of the CPOC on the peace and order, and public safety situation in the locality."

"As the overall head secretariat to the CPOC, we commend the City of Baguio and its CPOC members for their exemplary performance in 2023, contributing to the promotion of peace, order, and public safety in the locality," the DILG Baguio said.

It said the Baguio CPOC has served as a "platform for collaboration between the City Government, law enforcement agencies, national government agencies, civil society organizations, and the community to combat criminality, illegal drugs, insurgency, and violent extremism."
