Canine Distemper cases are on the rise!
Symptoms:
- on and off fever
- lack of appetite
- nasal discharge
- conjunctivitis (eye inflammation/infection)
- cough
- vomiting and/or diarrhea
- seizures
- paralysis

Sadly, Canine Distemper does not have a cure. Treatment is only supportive and many dogs either die or suffer from permanent paralysis or continue to exhibit involuntary movements of the jaw or muscle tremors.

PREVENTION IS STILL BETTER than cure so please have your dogs vaccinated for Canine Distemper. Don't wait until your dog gets it before you start asking about vaccination. Don't trade your convenience for your dog's health.

Did you know? Ultra*ound is not only useful for knowing if your dog is pregnant or not. By measuring the head diameter of the puppy (fetus) or the gestational sac, we can estimate the age of the fetus AND the date of delivery (EDD).

Knowing when the mommy dog is due will:

✔help furparents know when to start observing for signs of labor or when to send the dam for a scheduled C-section

✔increase chances of survival of the puppies --avoiding overdue pregnancies because the owner knows when the dam is suppose to give birth.

Tick-borne diseases on the rise⚠️

Symptoms of tick-borne diseases are very Non-specific and may be mistaken as just simple eye redness, weakness or the dog losing appetite.

If your dog has ticks or had ticks in the past, it is best to have your dog tested for Ehrlichia, Babesia and Anaplasma before the symptoms appear.

Don't make these common misconception about tick-borne disease!

❌It takes a lot of ticks in order to cause tick-borne diseases. That is wrong! It only takes 1 tick to infect your dog

❌It need many days for a tick attaching to your dog before it can transfer the parasites into your dog's blood. That is also wrong! It only takes 3 hours of the tick attaching to your dog for it to transmit the parasite.

If your tick has ticks or has had ticks in the past, it is best to have your dog undergo a blood test for blood parasites Ehrlichia, Babesia and Anaplasma. Early detection and treatment is always 🔑!

Tick control and prevention is also important to make sure your pet does not get the disease.
