One of our patients tested positive for Distemper virus ๐ข
Did you know that Canine Distemper can be transmitted through the air (airborne) or through coughing and sneezing? It attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems of our pets.
Here are the common signs:
- Inappetence (walang gana kumain)
- Lethargic (matamlay)
- Coughing
- Sneezing
- Presence of eyes and nose discharges
- Difficulty in breathing
- Vomiting and/or Diarrhea
- Twitching and/or Seizures
Thereโs no treatment for this disease (or all viruses). We can only provide supportive care at home (since we cannot confine these patients to avoid contamination or spreading). This is a very fatal disease (makamatay) and dogs that survive will have permanent nervous system damage.
To prevent this, complete your petโs vaccines (DHPPiL) and update their booster shots annually. Talk to your vet for more information :)
