Please do not give pets as Christmas gifts to people without their consent. Some people just don’t like pets. Others are pet pawrents but cannot handle an additional pet time-wise or financially speaking. It is not right to give them a gift that they would feel obliged to accept, view as an unwanted burden, and grow to resent over time.
If you want to show your love and support to your family and friends, gift them other things, not pets.

Statement on the Impounding of Animals at AFPOVAI

We at CARA express our deep concern, disappointment and dismay at the decision of AFPVOIA Homeowners Association (HOA) to impound the community animals in their premises. This, in spite of the presentation of scientific and factual evidence that such a method is both ineffective and cruel.
CARA stands by its belief that euthanasia, which is inevitable when unclaimed cats and dogs are brought to the city pound, is brutal and unnecessary. There are better, more successful ways for the management of community animals, foremost of which are CNVR (Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return), humane education and responsible ownership.
CARA still hopes that AFPOVAI HOA will reconsider its decision. After all, animals are an important ecological part of the world we live in. Peaceful co-existence can be achieved, and towards this end, CARA is willing to be of assistance to the HOA of AFPOVAI.
