Case Diaries: Hypocalcemia in Nursing Dogs Queenie was brought to the clinic with tremors and twitching. She has been lactating for almost a month without taking any calcium supplement. Upon blood profiling, it was noted that her calcium level was significantly low, confirming Hypocalcemia. Queenie was treated immediately and accordingly. After being confined for a day, she regained appetite and her twitching and tremors lessened. She is now recovering and taking Calcium supplements at home. Lack of calcium supplement during lactation period may cause calcium imbalance in the mama dog's body since a significant amount of it is lost into the milk. Hypocalcemia makes the nerves more excitable, that's why tremors, twitching, incoordination, and sometimes seizure can be seen. This can be life-threatening if treatment is not given immediately.

Meet Paningggggg! Paning was diagnosed with Canine Parvoviral Enteritis recently. He was confined at the clinic for 3 days. Paning fought and destroyed Parvo like a boss. This is him before his discharge. Good job Paning! 💚 Parvo is a viral disease that can be prevented with series of vaccine shots.
