If you have newborn or newly-bought puppies, it is always recommended to check their tummy area - some of them might have what we call UMBILICAL HERNIA.

During a dog's pregnancy, a fetus receives its nourishment from the umbilical blood vessels, which passess through what we call "umbilical ring". When this umbilical ring fails to close during development, it leaves an open space and leads to umbilical hernia. It appears as a soft bulge on the area of the pet's umbilicus.

Umbilical hernia is generally harmless, but may predispose dogs to strangulation of intestines, fats or other organs inside the abdomen. Cases like these can be dangerous.

As for Powder, the furparents observed a significant increase in size of the hernia in a small period of time as well as discoloration on the affected area. Pain is also observed when the patient is palpated in the abdomen. They decided for Powder to undergo Umbilical Herniorrhaphy.

Upon follow up, Powder is now happier than ever.

Siblings Pewee, Gucci and Fendi visited to have their Heartworm preventions updated. Heartworm test is required especially if the patient who will receive the prevention is an adult dog. This is to check if the patient is heartworm-free prior to administration of heartworm prevention.

Heartworm positive patients must be treated first once the disease is detected.

Heartworm prevention should be seriously considered by pet owners because it is a disease that is transmitted via mosquitoes.

The rainy season is here. ☔ Are your pets protected from Heartworm?

♥️ Heartworm is an infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes.

♥️ This disease may cause symptoms like inappetence, weakness, coughing, edema and abdominal enlargement.

♥️ If your pet does not have heartworm prevention yet, it is best to consult your veterinarian for the best options available for your furbaby. Self medication of heartworm preventives is NOT recommended. Heartworm test is usually recommended especially for adult dogs before initiating a heartworm prevention program.

💙Always check your pets' vaccination records to know if they have wellness programs that are due

🧡 We do not have reservations of schedules. We operate on a first come first serve basis.

💙 We only have one resident veterinarian so lines can be long sometimes especially during consultations. Make sure to bring hydration and treats for your pet. (unless they were required for fasting!)

🧡 Always consider the weather and extreme heat before planning to visit. We want to avoid heat stress for your pets.

It is very hot outside though, so please take care of yourself and your furbabies by hydrating properly and avoiding hot and humid areas as much as possible. Make sure that your pets stay in a well ventilated area and with access to water and food at all times. Avoid walking your pets in very hot roads or pavements as this may cause burns to your dog's paws. Do not put your pets caged at the back of your pick up trucks for your vet visit especially during noontime. Your dogs/pets may suffer from heat stroke instantly. Consult your veterinarian for best advices especially this hot weather. Stay hydrated, Pawssibles!

This year, Calumpit was struck by a typhoon causing flooding for weeks which left residents with struggles no one would even want to experience. Slowly as months go by, our resilient kababayans started rebuilding their homes once again. And as they start their recovery from the calamity, they never forgot about their furbabies.
