🐾 Why do pet's need vaccination??💉🐱🐶🩺

▪️Puppies and kittens are exposed to infectious diseases early in life. Therefore, should receive vaccination before they are exposed. Normally, pet will receive a series of injections to complete primary vaccination.⚕️

▪️Is vaccination effective?? 💉🩺
Modern veterinary vaccines are safe and has high level of efficacy. Vaccination is most efficacious in healthy animals. A protective immune response may not be elicited if animals are incubating an infectious disease, are stressed of are otherwise immunocompromised.

▪️Are booster necessary?? 💉🩺
Protection against infectious diseases wanes after sometime. To ensure continuous protection your pet must receive booster.

⚠️ Why is heartworm prevention important?🐶🦟

A recent diagnosis of heartworm in a dog, is a timely reminder that we need to ensure our pets are protected. ⛑️😔

Microfilariae (adult female heartworms) are the transmissible larval stage of the parasite, transferrable to other dogs (and cats) via mosquitoes.

Their presence in this particular dog means 3 things:
1. The dog must have been infected (via mosquitoes) from another dog which also must have/had circulating microfilariae.
2. The dog has been a transmission risk (reservoir) to other dogs in its neighbourhood.
3. Mosquitoes in Carmona are transmitting heartworm between infected dogs.

Heartworms must be eliminated before they reach the adult stage, it is extremely important that heartworm preventives be dispensed on schedule.

🐾 ticks are parasites that attach themselves to animals and people, feed on blood and transmit diseases directly into the host's system 🐕🐈

Ticks can cause number of illnesses in dogs and cats. These include;
▪️ Anaplasmosis - both dogs and cats are at risk for this condition. Pets will usually begin to show signs of disease within a couple weeks after infection. Depending on the severity of the infection, oral antibiotics are given for up to a month for treatment.
▪️Ehrlichiosis - ehrlichia is a bacteria commonly transmitted by ticks, signs are similar to anaplasmosis includes fever, lethargy, poor appetite, abnormal bruising and bleeding, neurologic abnormalities and lameness.
▪️Babesiosis - babesia invades mammalian red blood cells causing anemia.

🩺Prevention is key❗❗ Spot-on and chewable tablets are easily administered each month and provide protection for up to 30 days 🐶🐱
