Attention all cat owners! Did you know that scabies mange is a common skin disease that affects cats and can be easily prevented and treated? Scabies mange is caused by a tiny parasite that burrows into the skin, causing intense itching, hair loss, and skin inflammation. As responsible pet owners, it is crucial to stay aware of scabies mange symptoms, such as excessive scratching, hair loss, and skin irritation, and seek veterinary care promptly if you suspect your cat may have contracted this condition.
Today, Loki had a visit with us for a checkup, and it turns out that the severe scratching and hair loss were a result of scabies mange. With proper treatment and care, our furry friend Loki is on the road to recovery! During the visit, we also took history and found out about their dog's recent skin problems, which might have been in contact with Loki. Our team provided them with valuable insights and recommendations on how to prevent and treat this contagious condition effectively.
Prevention is key, and regular flea treatments and grooming sessions can significantly reduce the likelihood of your cat contracting scabies mange. So let's work together to protect our feline friends and raise awareness about this preventable and treatable disease.
Remember, regular veterinary visits are essential in keeping our pets healthy and happy. So, if you notice any changes in your pet's behavior or appearance, don't hesitate to seek professional help. Your furry friends, just like you, deserve premium care and attention.
If you have any questions or concerns about scabies mange in cats, please don't hesitate to reach out to us or consult with your veterinarian. Let's keep our cats healthy and happy!

Ear mites week at the clinic!
We see ear mites at the clinic daily! Mostly in cats, but dogs are able to get them as well. They look like dark coffee grounds in the ear.
At the clinic we offer a topical medication that is usually applied after ear cleaning! Ear mites are usually confirmed through ear swabbing and microscopic examination!
Ear mites are very itchy and uncomfortable and is usually accompanied by a secondary microbial infection of bacteria and yeast! If left untreated, infection will cause otitis interna which can lead to serious problems!
The video is a shot from under the microscope. You can see what the mites actually look like! In all the brown debris we clean out of the ears there are hundreds of mites crawling around!
After confirmatory tests, you can get ear mite treatment to put in the ears. You can clean your pets' ears with an animal safe ear cleaner. Carefully use a Q-Tip or Cottonball to wipe the ears clean. #pawsnpurr #earmites #animalclinic #pethealth #pethealthcare #vet #veterinary
