The Importance of Regular Vet Check-Ups 🐾

As a pet owner, one of the most loving things you can do for your furry friend is to ensure they have regular check-ups at the vet. These visits are crucial for maintaining your pet's health and catching any potential issues early on.

Preventive care is key! Regular vet visits can help prevent diseases and detect health issues before they become serious. Vaccinations and parasite control are just a few of the preventive measures that can be addressed during a check-up.

Remember, pets age faster than humans, so an annual check-up for them is like us visiting the doctor every few years. Plus, pets are experts at hiding discomfort, so you might not even know something is wrong. A vet, with their trained eye, can spot the subtle signs of a problem.

So, let's pledge to make our pets' health a priority. Schedule that vet visit and give your pet the gift of a healthy, happy life. They depend on us for their well-being, and regular vet check-ups are a small step with a big impact on their quality of life. 🐶❤️🐱

With summer already here, it's important for pet owners to be aware of the signs and symptoms of heat stroke in dogs. If left untreated, heat stroke can quickly progress and become more severe, leading to death. The early signs of heat stroke in dogs may include some or all of the following symptoms:

- High body temperature
- Restlessness or agitation
- Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
- Drooling, often with thick saliva

If you notice any of these symptoms in your dog, it's important to take immediate action to cool them down and seek veterinary care as soon as possible!

Make the switch in the way we refer to our beloved furry friends. Instead of calling them 'Askal', use the term 'Aspins'. Aspins are a unique breed of dogs that are native to the Philippines. By using the term 'Aspins', we hope to promote a more inclusive and positive image for these amazing dogs. So let's all embrace this change and start using 'Aspins' from now on!

Cats are truly masters of co-meow-nication! Unlike dogs who have around 10 vocalizations, cats boast an impressive repertoire of over 100 sounds. This includes meows, purrs, chirps, trills, and even hisses, each with subtle variations that convey their mood and needs. Whether it's a hungry meow or a happy purr, understanding these feline vocal cues can strengthen the bond between you and your furry friend.

If your feline friend seems to be expressing themselves a little too much, or if you have any concerns about their meow-cabulary, don't hesitate to visit us at First United Doctors Veterinary Hospital, just in front of The District Dasmariñas. We're always happy to help decipher your cat's mysterious messages.

25/02/2024

Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening virus for dogs that attacks their gastrointestinal tract. Lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite, or bloody diarrhea are typical symptoms. The virus is spread through contact with contaminated f***s, infected soils, or surfaces, which can happen when a dog comes into contact with contaminated objects, food, or other dogs or animals.

Puppies and young dogs are at a higher risk of infection because they have not completed their vaccinations, or have not yet developed the immunity to fight against the virus. In severe situations, shock, systemic infection, or even death may occur. The good news is that it is preventable through vaccination.

Pet owners should ensure that their dogs receive the latest vaccines, avoid contact with sick dogs and contaminated environments, wash hands after handling dogs, and clean and disinfect areas that may have been contaminated.

What goes on in your pet's gut, matters!

𝘊𝘺𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘮𝘺𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘨𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴 may seem like an unpronounceable tongue twister, but it's a type of yeast that may be found in our pooch's digestive system. Most of the time, it's harmless. However, in some circumstances, it could wreak havoc. It has been implicated to be a possible opportunistic disease-causing organism, with chronic diarrhea as the primary clinical sign.

Keep an eye out and get regular vet check-ups to maintain your dog's gut health.

🐾 Did you know that female cats and dogs can develop Cystic Endometrial Hyperplasia? The uterine lining thickens as a result of this disorder, which may cause difficulties. This disease can be avoided by a simple surgical operation called ovariohysterectomy, or spaying as it is more commonly known. Early detection and treatment of pets already afflicted with this illness are essential to ensuring their well-being. 🐶🐱

Soil Transmitted helminths are worms that can be acquired through contact with contaminated soil. They include hookworms and whipworms, which are some of the most common intestinal parasites of dogs and cats. 💩🪱

They can cause your pets to have bloody diarrhea, anemia, weight loss, and weakness. It can also infect humans who are exposed to soil contaminated with parasitic eggs shed by infected animals. Protect your entire household by making sure that your pets are regularly dewormed. 🐶🐱

22/02/2023

Radiographs, or more commonly known as X-Rays, are frequently used by veterinarians to know more about their patient’s condition. It allows for the diagnosis of several kinds of conditions, such as fractured or dislocated bones, the presence of foreign bodies, pregnancy, and abnormalities in internal organs such as the heart, lungs, stomach and bowels. The process involves passing a safe level of radiation through the patient, in order to produce a 2-Dimensional image of what’s inside the body in a non-invasive manner.
If you have a pet that’s been limping, coughing or is an expecting mother, come visit us for a consultation with one of our veterinarians to see if your furbaby needs an X-Ray.
