Finding lumps on our pet’s body is very alarming, especially when they are seen in their reproductive organ. These uncontrolled growths or tumors may be cancerous or non-cancerous. They may stay in the organ where they have started or spread within the body.

Most of the tumors in dog’s v***a and va**na are benign or non-cancerous. They are commonly found in female dogs between 2 and 18 years old which have not been spayed and have not given birth to a pup yet. Specific cause of tumor formation is not always found and majority are caused by environmental, genetic or hormonal factors. Affected dogs may show clinical signs such as excessive licking of v***a, mass protruding from v***a, va**nal discharge, and difficulty in defecation or urination.

Chloe is presented to our clinic last year due to mass on and in her v***a. She is already 9 years old, not spayed, and not given birth yet. The mass was growing gradually then and had affected her daily activities. Thus, surgical removal of the tumor and ovariohysterectomy (spay) were done. Prognosis is excellent and Chloe has improved since then.

It is essential to be aware of the behavioral and physical changes in your pets. If you notice one or more symptoms listed above, visit us immediately.

🍔🍕 Fatty foods - can cause pancreatitis in dogs and cats
