More adoptables! 😿
This cute pair belonged to a litter of at least three kittens abandoned on a carwash near our clinic. We found them running on sidewalks along the busy Aguinaldo highway.
Witnesses said children left the kittens, which is quite alarming. These children will most likely assimilate discarding unwanted kittens is acceptable.
Fortunately, one of the kittens was already rescued by a responsible person. But that leaves two more waiting to be adopted 😿

Meet Oswalda! A cat looking for her fur-ever home 😼
We saw her limping on the sidewalk one overtime evening a few weeks ago. From afar, her right leg was noticeably deformed.
We knew we had to help her.
We also knew TNVR would be insufficient due to her leg deformity. It would devastate us to return her back on the sidewalk.
But after having taken in Lolo and Pogi, we are no longer capable to care for Oswalda long-term.
She needs a family able to provide ample space, enrichment, and care for her. And so, we are urgently knocking on the hearts of any cat-lover still with room for another adorable cat with special needs.
Tomorrow we will be removing her sutures and giving her NexGard Combo. On Sunday, she will be ready for adoption. And ready to give you lots of purrs 😻

Did you know testicles of toms may sometimes go AWOL?
A rare condition, cryptorchidism or undescended testicle/s occurs in 1.3-6.2% of cats. It has a genetic basis, meaning cats inherit this abnormality from their parents. It may be bilateral or unilateral, in which case it can be referred to as monorchidism. The undescended testicle/s may be stuck in the inguinal region, adjacent to the scrotum (pre-scrotal), or inside the abdomen.
Consequences of cryptorchidism are sterility and increased risk of testicular cancer (most commonly seminoma) arising from the undescended testes. Due to their normal testicle, monorchid toms may still have offsprings, which facilitates spread of the condition.
Cryptorchid/monorchid toms are highly recommended to undergo neutering (cryptorchidectomy/monorchidectomy) to prevent testicular cancer formation and passing this abnormality to future generations. Female offsprings of monorchid toms are also recommended to undergo spaying.
Inguinal and pre-scrotal cryptorchids are more conveniently neutered due to more superficial location of their undescended testes. Abdominal cryptorchids require opening their tummies to facilitate searching for and removal of their missing balls.

Meet Lolo! One of five adult strays we have, so far, encountered near our clinic (four of which have already been neutered and one was even adopted 😻).
We took to calling him Lolo due to his weary eyes, ruffled face, scarred cheek, and (as we later found) very few teeth remaining. 🙀
Lolo's roaming/feeding schedule was erratic. Gaining his trust was a mountain to climb. He avoided people like the plague. He would run away even if we were bringing him food, and would stop eating to hide from pedestrians passing by.
We were terribly worried of Lolo not showing up for his daily feeding following first few storms last July. Seeing him again made us very happy. But his appearance got worse. He was sluggish, had wounds and alopecia. Patches of his skin turned gray. Presumably, he had been fighting and also acquired an itchy skin problem.
We planned to TNVR Lolo to minimize his roaming and fighting. We kept feeding him, until he trusted us enough that we could approach him closer. He still hissed, retreating a few steps whenever we placed kibbles beside him. Lolo was very smart. He would not get inside our trap.
But one day, after several attempts to catch Lolo, a breakthrough. He allowed himself to be picked up and brought inside our clinic without a struggle. We gave him lots of food, chimken, treats, and water. He was grumpy to begin, giving us side eyes and hisses of protest. His sweet side soon showed. Little by little, he enjoyed chin rubs. Though he still did not allow us to fully check his body.
Thanks to people with the biggest of hearts, he was sponsored a dose of antiparasitics and, most importantly, comprehensive blood tests. (We can never thank them enough.) We were surprised but extremely happy nonetheless his organs are all working properly. Lolo's attending vet. during his blood tests, with her keen eyes, also spotted a terrible infection in his right foot, which we later found was due to losing two of his claws.

They said cats can't take themselves to the vet. Well, this kitty begs to differ 😹
He took himself to us yesterday evening. For free antirabies shot maybe? He has an upper respiratory infection though and was quite starved. So we fed him first and prescribed medications to be given by his fostermom. He'll get his vaccine once he recovers.
We are again looking for anyone able to adopt this adorable kitten as around 70 cats and 15 dogs combined are already under the care of our staff.

We have affixed a small wooden cat house in front of our clinic for cats who may pass by looking to shelter from the elements. It has gotten dirty due to the frequent rain 😿

A concerned citizen found this cute little ball of fur in the middle of a street and saved her from being ran over.
She is now under quarantine and enjoying a life indoors with tasty food and clean water. Once she reaches sufficient age and weight, she will be spayed.
