Upon close examination, the wounds were already infested with maggots that burrowed through his skin and muscles, which further complicated the case. Our parvo patients 🙏🏻
These babies were tested positive for parvoviral infection and is responding well to the supportive treatment. Immediate care increases the chance of survival for parvo patients. In cases such as this, we high advise confinement or hospitalization for continuous fluid therapy, close monitoring and iv meds.
The number of patients being tested positive for parvoviral infection is starting to increase again, make sure that your furbabies are vaccinated and receiving supplements and immune boosters. Avoid bringing your puppies outside for a walk as they can get the infection by ingesting the fecal matters from other infected dogs/ puppies. Always practice a proper hygiene and sanitation at home.
Consult your veterinarian and avoid waiting for the signs to get worse before seeking medical attention. 🙂
