Why Does My 🐹Hamster Sleep 🥱All Day❓

If you’ve recently brought home a new pet hamster🐹, you might be wondering why he’s asleep all day😴. Hamsters require around 6-8 hours of sleep, and can often be achieved with multiple sleep cycles😪. Hamsters are nocturnal 🐹creatures, which means they will sleep during the 🌞day and be awake at
🌚night.

Hamsters have nocturnal instincts and are always meant to sleep 😴during the day, but just like us, if there is too much going on around them👾, it can become difficult to get some shut-eye👁️. Make sure your hamster’s cage is in a quiet😶, calm area 😌of your house where other pets 🐰🐕🐈or children 👶won’t have access during the day.

Why Do Hamsters Eat Their Babies❓

It turns out that hamsters, like many other animals, sometimes eat their own offspring due to a variety of reasons. For starters, hamsters are known to be highly territorial creatures. So, if they feel that their nest is overcrowded, they may resort to eating their young to maintain a healthy living space.

Additionally, if a hamster feels that its babies are weak or sickly, it may eat them to prevent the spread of disease and to conserve resources for the stronger pups. This behavior is known as culling and is actually quite common in the animal kingdom.

However, it’s important to note that hamsters aren’t naturally inclined to eat their young. In fact, most hamster mothers are incredibly nurturing and devoted to their offspring. So, if a hamster does resort to eating its young, it’s usually a sign of a larger problem, such as stress, lack of resources, or disease.
