Chakku, a 2-month old albino ball python was brought in due to accumulation of substrate material in his mouth causing discomfort, salivation, and inappetence.

The condition is caused by the combination of incompatible substrate (wood shavings) and Chakku's backward facing teeth. The shavings are thin enough for his teeth to pierce through and gets lodged because any attempt to push the material forward will only push it against his backward facing teeth.

Since Chakku's isn't keen on somebody opening his mouth for him, we decided to sedate him the safest way possible - with gas anesthesia. reptiles need to be sedated with caution since they have slow metabolism and will clear substances from their body at a much slower rate.

Once sedated, it was an easy task to remove the substrate materials from his mouth without stressing him out. With all of the materials removed, an appropriate dose of a suitable antibiotic was given intramuscularly to prevent and stop any ongoing infection.

A few minutes after the end of gas anesthesia, Chakku was well on his way to waking up. He was then transferred to a heated cage for further recovery.

Needless to say, Chakku was back to his old self once again by trying to bite anyone who touches him 😅

His family recently moved in to a new house location and he might have been too curious for his own good. He sneaked out of the house last June 3 and hasn't been back since.

Cats do need sunlight! ☀
Here are some of the benefits!

The last of our operating room upgrade finally arrived and we can confidently say we are now more equipped to handle surgeries while providing optimum patient care, monitoring, and comfort for the best possible surgical outcome.

Our V-type operating table can be automatically lifted and tilted for best surgical access and view at the comfort of the surgeon. The operating table is also heated to provide better body temperature control during long surgeries.

Kiray comes back for her follow up checkup to remove the sutures on her eye.

Kiray came to us with her right eyeball popping out of its socket. Unfortunately, on assessment, it was deemed that her eyeball was unsavable due to severe damage and the amount of time it was outside of its socket (2 weeks).

Eye enucleation (surgical removal of the eye) was suggested to spare Kiray from infection, pain, and suffering. The procedure also necessitates that her eye be permanently shut to prevent exposure of delicate tissues and debris from entering the eye socket.

Fortunately, they cope up very well with the disability and can live very normal lives. Good job Kiray!

Good day! We are appealing to the owners of miming to please contact us regarding her situation.

Miming was brought in for suspected foreign body obstruction causing swallowing difficulties. She also had upper respiratory infection that added to her body's burden. But with good care, medication, and time, she was on the mend.

She was already fit for discharge but unfortunately, we no longer have proper communication with her owners despite us trying to reach out multiple times.

It is always very sad if a pet is abandoned. We are hoping this is not that situation. If you are the owner of Miming, kindly reach out to us so Miming can happily go home to you.

Puppy brigade ready to revive!

Caesarian section in animals are different from humans because we can have as many as 10 plus puppies/kittens in one go!

Another crucial moment is reviving the puppies from the effect of the anesthetic drug as we usually perform general anesthesia which can also depress the babies. It is therefore important that we have multiple catchers to immediately revive and attend to the puppies when they come out.

Rescued kittens are doing great!

We currently have three rescued kittens from rescuers admitted in our clinic and so far they are thriving! It's not easy taking care of them as they need monitoring and feeding 24/7.

The smaller kitten is from a different litter and has been constantly squeezing itself between the two older kittens for some snuggles 😂

The infrared cage has been such a treat to use too by providing them with much needed warmth for their little bodies.

This is why we advocate neutering of pets to prevent unwanted pregnancies that leads to abandoned kittens/puppies. Lucky for these three they were rescued but there will be hundreds if not thousands more out there that are not so lucky 😥

We offer low cost neutering for aspins and puspins in our clinic and have partnered with a local rescue group, PART- Iligan (PET ADOPTION and RESCUE TEAM- Iligan), Inc. to provide free neutering procedures. That is aside from the weekly neuter campaigns of Drs. Ken and Jonnah under RENEWTER.
