Blood Parasite: The Silent killer
Did you know that there are different blood parasites that can be transmitted to your furbabies all at once through tick bites; One of which is Ehrlichiosis cause commonly by Ehrlicia canis. If your pets experience clinical signs such lethargy, fever, bleeding disorder, and neurological disturbances. Seek veterinary assistance immediately.
Another common blood parasite that your pet can get are Heartworms caused by Dirofilaria immitis transmitted through mosquito bites. Clinical signs include lethargy, fever, gagging, difficulty in breathing, weight loss and abnormal abdominal distension.
Babesiosis, another disease that can be transmitted by ticks , thats why it is also termed as the tick bite fever. Oftentimes, animals with this disease often experience lethargy, nausea, anemia and in severe cases icterus occurs which is seen as yellowing of the gums, eyes and skin
Anaplasmosis also known as dog fever is another common tick bourne parasite that infects a dog. Symptoms involves, fever, lethargy, inappetence, malaise, joint pain , vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, labored breathing, seizures, and ataxia.
