The idea that our dogs might fight is never fun to consider. Dogs and cats or two dogs fighting is a common occurrence. Even with our best efforts, dog fights sometimes happen. This is because of how much harm a dog's powerful jaw can inflict.

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐀 𝐃𝐎𝐆 𝐅𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓?

𝟏. 𝑷𝑯𝒀𝑺𝑰𝑪𝑨𝑳 𝑰𝑵𝑱𝑼𝑹𝒀

Dog fights are brutal and savage activity, and a dog bite can cause tissue to be crushed, torn, punctured, or lacerated. A little cut on the surface may conceal more serious harm underneath. Scarlet was brought to our veterinary clinic around 10pm with dystocia. A radiograph showed she have 10 puppies. Her labor became complicated, and an emergency cesarean section was done. All 10 puppies were born alive, however one later passed away.

After the procedure, Scarlet is now recuperating nicely, and our staff is keeping an eye on her and her babies to make sure they both keep healing nicely.

Common allergens

🔴fleas – most dogs will be allergic to flea saliva

You will know if your pet is having an allergic reaction if ..
🔴They biting or licking the affected area as it is itchy.
🔴The area may be swollen, red and have visible allergic hives (raised red patches) .
🔴They might be stuffy, uncomfortable, and sneezing, much like with a case of hay fever.

A severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) may also cause:
📌Breathing difficulties
📌A fast, pounding heartbeat
📌Vomiting and/or diarrhoea
📌Shock, collapse and unconsciousness
📌Cardiac Arrest

Bladder stones, also called uroliths or cystic calculi, are mineral deposits that resemble rock and grow in the bladder or in the kidneys.

Our patient, a 6-year-old female dog named Luna, was having difficulty in urinating and hematuria. After a comprehensive physical examination and radiography, Luna's veterinarian recommended a surgical procedure known as a cystotomy to remove the bladder stone.

After a week of post-operative care, Luna appeared to be making progress in her recovery. We also thank Luna's furparent for trusting us.

Depending on the kind of bladder stones your dog has had, you may need dietary changes your veterinarian may suggest and do preventive screenings to prevent the formation of urinary stones. The most important part is to always consult your veterinarian.

Cody Dela Cruz, a 5-month-old intact male dog, was referred to our clinic with symptoms of hematochezia and frequent vomiting. Initially admitted from another clinic, Cody was suspected of having ingested a foreign body. Comprehensive blood tests revealed no significant findings, and Cody tested negative for Canine Parvovirus, Coronavirus, and Giardia.

Upon admission to our clinic, Cody underwent a contrast media radiographic examination, confirming the ingestion of an unknown foreign body object. After six days of non-surgical treatment, Cody successfully passed the foreign object and showed significant improvement.

Awareness Note: Pet owners are advised to monitor their pets closely to prevent the ingestion of foreign objects, which can lead to serious health issues.

Presenting Complaint: The patient, a 7-year-old female Shih-Tzu, was brought to the clinic due to persistent scratching at a mass located on the lateral surface of the face. The mass was approximately 6 cm in diameter, firm, non-painful, and located inside of the skin upon initial examination.

Clinical Examination: A firm, non-painful, approximately 6 cm in diameter and located inside the skin, was observed on the lateral surface of the patient's face.

Diagnostic Procedure: A fine-needle aspirate biopsy was performed on the mass to collect cells for microscopic analysis.

Diagnosis: The fine-needle aspirate biopsy revealed the mass to be a benign neoplasm, indicating it was a non-cancerous tumor.

Treatment: Surgical removal of the pink-colored mass was conducted successfully. Erza was sent home with oral medications

Prognosis: The prognosis is good, given the benign nature of the tumor and successful surgical removal.

Buchi was rushed to the clinic after getting engaged in a dog fight. Proptosis is when the eyeball (globe) moves forward out of the eye socket (orbit), which requires immediate attention to minimize discomfort and damage to the eye. This causes lots of swelling and bleeding and is often very painful.

Following a thorough physical examination and the stabilization of Buchi's condition, a temporary tarsorrhaphy was performed as a surgical intervention.

After weeks of postoperative care, Buchi appeared to be making progress in his recovery, as seen in the photos below.

Chewie was brought to the clinic in a state of emergency, c-section was immediately carried out after a thorough clinical exam.

Upon incision of the abdomen, the surgeon saw the uterus had already twisted on its own, a condition known as uterine torsion. In addition to the foul-smelling, blackish-brown fluid, there were adhesions from the body of the uterus and ovaries that left the surgeon's no choice but to do ovariohysterectomy (OVH).

While uterine torsion is an alarming condition that we should all be aware of, it is reassuring to know that it is a rare occurrence. But still, to ensure the good health of your pregnant animal and its offspring, check-ups, ultrasound, and radiographic scanning is essential during pregnancy
