🐾 Patient Spotlight: Yuki 🐾

Yuki, a brave and beautiful dog, recently visited South Negros Veterinary Hospital because her owner noticed she was limping on her right hind leg. Concerned it might be a bone fracture, her owner brought her in for a thorough check-up.

After an examination, we found no signs of fractures or bone injuries. However, to ensure we didn’t miss any underlying issues, we recommended blood tests and a blood parasite test. The results revealed two important findings:

1️⃣ Low platelet count

2️⃣ Positive results for four types of blood parasites

These parasites can cause various symptoms, including limping, fatigue, and other health issues. Fortunately, we were able to identify the root cause early. Yuki is now receiving the necessary medications to combat the parasites and boost her recovery.

We’d like to thank Yuki’s owner for being proactive and trusting us with her care. This story is a reminder of how crucial it is to seek professional help when our pets show unusual signs. Limping or changes in behavior can often point to health concerns beyond what meets the eye.

📌 If you notice any unusual symptoms in your pets, don’t hesitate to visit us for a consultation!

🩹 Pet Wound Care 101 🩹

Pets are curious creatures, and sometimes accidents happen! Whether it’s a small scratch or a more serious wound, knowing how to handle pet injuries can make a big difference.

Wound Care Tips:

🧼 Clean the Area: Gently clean minor wounds with warm water and mild soap. Avoid using alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, which can irritate the skin.

🩹 Apply a Bandage: Lightly bandage the wound to prevent further contamination, but avoid wrapping it too tightly.

🐾 Prevent Licking: Pets often lick their wounds, which can slow healing. Consider using an e-collar or bandage to prevent this.

For more serious injuries or if you’re unsure, always seek professional help. Call us at 09662032303 or message us here for advice and treatment.

🐾 Protecting Your Pet from Heat-Related Illnesses 🐾

With warmer weather here, it's important to keep an eye on our furry friends and protect them from the heat. Pets are vulnerable to high temperatures, which can lead to dehydration or even heatstroke.

Tips to Keep Your Pet Safe in Hot Weather:

🐕 Provide Plenty of Water: Hydration is key, especially in hot weather.

🐾 Limit Outdoor Time: Avoid walks during peak heat hours (10 AM - 4 PM).

🌳 Create Shady Rest Spots: Always offer a cool, shaded place for your pet to relax.

❌ Never Leave Pets in Cars: Temperatures can rise quickly inside cars, even with the windows cracked.
