We are glad to inform the public that starting September 2023, Dra. Windy will now be available at the Kalilangan branch every 1st and 3rd week of the month; Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, and Saturday 8am-12noon. 😍

As we see the increase of pet owners in our municipality and neighboring areas, Dra. Windy dedicates more time to educate and help pet owners to be responsible. We are also pleased to announce that in addition to walk-ins and pre-booked clinic appointments, she now accepts Home Service appointments.😊

Announcement everyone!

To continue giving quality service to you and your fur babies, Dra. Windy will be taking a break and will be attending the annual convention of veterinarians at Pasay City on August 25 to Sept 3, 2023.

She will then resume her clinic duty at Kalilangan branch on Sept 4-9, and at Oroquieta branch/Fetch Plaridel on Sept 11-16, 2023.

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the owner whose puppy died this morning that was recently vaccinated at our clinic last Friday.

We would like to remind pet owners to READ THOROUGHLY our post-vaccination guide. It was indeed stated to the guide that the owner must remain CALM when the puppy develops fever or weakness after vaccination. But it was also clearly stated that when SEVERE symptoms such as diarrhea & vomiting develops, the pet owner has the responsibility to NOTIFY the veterinarian within 24hrs.

We would also like to clarify, that this post was intended to EDUCATE pet owners in Kalilangan, and surrounding municipalities since there are still many misconceptions regarding vaccinating our pets. Please do understand that vaccines are preventive measures to protect your pets from certain diseases but reactions to these can vary from puppy to puppy.

Moreover, we understand the frustrations of the bereaved family but it would be UNJUST to misinterpret the good intentions of the veterinarian by pointing out your lapses to scolding. Lahi po ang pagpoint out sa inyong lapses and pagstate sa dapat ninyong gihimo compared po sa pagpangasaba mga maam/sir.

We do hope this incident would raise awareness to pet owners to be more responsible and develop a good communication relationship with their veterinarians. If you have concerns, call or dm your licensed veterinarian, dili po kay sa mga unlicensed vet or "quack doctors" muduol for advice. Our resident veterinarian is busy since she's handling 2 vet clinics and 1 petshop, but she tries to cater to all your concerns as quickly as possible.

One thing is for sure, everyone (our clinic and the bereaved family) is sadden by the death of a sweet fur baby. 😢

Please vaccinate your dogs and cats against rabies. 😢

M was brought to the clinic after his owners noticed sudden changes in his behavior and lack of appetite for two days.

During his history and physical examination, it was discovered that his last rabies vaccination was three years ago. Despite the fact that he is a caged dog, he is still exposed to other dogs that are free roaming in their compound. He was showing signs of air-biting, hypersalivation, brick-red mucous membranes, and ataxia (an uncoordinated gait or movement).

With a thorough history combined with the clinical signs he was manifesting, there was a high likelihood that it could be rabies.

After a lengthy discussion with the owner about how there is no cure for rabies, it was decided to do euthanasia. Although the history and all the clinical signs he was exhibiting pointed towards rabies, we still needed to send a sample to a laboratory that is equipped to handle rabies cases to confirm

Unfortunately, after 24 hours, the results came out that he was positive for rabies. It was recommended that all family members who were in contact with the dog be vaccinated against rabies.

Rabies is a viral disease that affects the nervous system of all mammals, including humans. It is transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal, most commonly through a bite.

Symptoms of rabies are

* Behavioral changes
* extreme aggresion to depression or coma
* sudden loss of appetite
* nervousness
* irritability
* hyperexcitability
* weakness or paralysis of the legs
* difficulty in breathing
* hypersalivation

Once the animal is already showing signs of rabies, there's no known effective treatment, which will eventually cause death. However, rabies is 100% preventable through vaccination, prompt treatment after exposure, and responsible pet ownership.

Getting our pet dogs and cats vaccinated against rabies is extremely important. Vaccinating against rabies helps to protect not only our pets but also ourselves and our communities from the spread of this dangerous disease.
