This is M, a one-year and 3-month old, female bully who was brought to us due to diarrhea (intestinal content leakage) and loss of appetite. Upon further examination, the patient has had an impacted (very hard stool) rectum.
Radiography revealed that the patient has calcified fecal material, with foreign body obstruction on her large intestines. Exploratory laparotomy was done and the large intestines had fecoliths and a considerable amount of undigested bones (chicken bones) which contributed to obstruction and caused her obstipation. Enterotomy was done to remove the stuck bones and fecoliths.
M was discharged yesterday, 3 days after her surgery, feeling better and able to defecate normally.
