BU-AWS is deeply concerned about the potential impact of a rushed return to campus on the mental and physical well-being of students. The added pressure of a tight timeframe to pack up belongings, and prepare for the resumption of classes, particularly after the destruction caused by #𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗣𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼, can induce heightened levels of academic stress.

BU-AWS believes that granting students additional time to prepare would foster a more conducive academic environment. Sufficient rest and relaxation can enhance physical health, thereby improving students' cognitive abilities. Given that many students traveled back to their hometowns in 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲, which were severely affected by Typhoon Pepito.

Furthermore, by demonstrating empathy and understanding, the University can create a supportive and nurturing environment that prioritizes the holistic well-being of its students.

BU-AWS urges the administration to consider this plea and take steps to reduce the undue stress experienced by students during the aftermath of the disater. A compassionate approach will not only benefit the students' academic performance but also contribute to their overall well-being and future success.

𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

As the Bicol Region becomes devastated by the parade of typhoons and #𝐏𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐏𝐇 continues ro intensify, the Bicol University Animal Welfare Society (BUAWS) calls for a donation drive, either in monetary or in-kind donations, to support our furry companions in life for the upcoming typhoon. Every act of generosity matters and provide comfort and hope to them.

In times of crisis, let us not forget our furry companions, as they also deserve safety and security. Animal shelters are already struggling with limited resources, space, and the increasing number of rescued animals. It is important to take action and for these shelters to prepare their needed materials such as food, clean water, medicine, and any supplies that will aid them in securing the safety of their rescues.

The 𝐁𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 - 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐔-𝐀𝐖𝐒) extended their support to 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐨 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐓𝐀𝐀𝐑𝐀) by providing dog/cat foods for animals due to the rampage caused by Typhoon Kristine. The Bicol region, has recently endured the wrath of Typhoon Kristine. This powerful storm has left an unforgettable mark on the region, causing widespread devastation and loss of life. While the human toll is immense, the impact on our furry companions is equally heartbreaking.

Countless animals, from beloved pets to resilient strays, have been displaced, injured, and left to manage for themselves in the aftermath of the typhoon. Animal shelters, already struggling with limited resources, are overwhelmed with the influx of distressed animals. They desperately need our support to provide essential care, such as food, clean water, medicine, and any supplies that will help for rebuilding the home of the rescued cats and dogs. Your generosity will be a lifeline for these animals during their time of greatest need.

The Bicol Region faced a devastating situation as Typhoon Kristine made an unexpected early landfall, bringing widespread flooding and severe weather conditions. While the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) had initially predicted the storm's arrival on October 25, 2024, Typhoon Kristine early arrival caught many unprepared, including animal shelters. The tragic incident of impounded animals drowning in flooded cages during Typhoon Kristineph underscores the critical need for improved emergency preparedness and humane practices in animal welfare. Animal welfare advocates are calling for proactive measures, urging pet owners to prioritize the safety of their animals by releasing them from confinement during natural disasters.

The recent devastation caused by Typhoon Kristine in the Bicol region has highlighted the vulnerability of stray animals, particularly dogs, in the face of natural disasters. While the region grapples with the aftermath of the typhoon, a disturbing trend has emerged: pet owners neglecting their animals by leaving them chained or caged, exposing them to the grave risk of drowning during floods. This practice raises serious concerns about animal welfare and underscores the urgent need for responsible pet ownership, especially in disaster-prone areas.

The Bicol region is still recovering from the impact of Typhoon Kristine, and animal welfare organizations are calling for urgent support to help animals affected by the storm.

While the strays and shelters of AARA and SARA are reported to be in good condition, TAARA (Tabaco Animal and Rescue and Adoption) is still in need of assistance. Although the strays have returned to the shelter, there are ongoing needs.

Safe po lahat ng rescues including volunteers pero halos walang tulog lahat kasi panay iyak ng mga dogs habang lumalakas kanina yung hangin at ulan.😭 Yung mga kubo din sa shelter nasira 😭😭😭Wala pong mauuwian ngayon yung mga rescue dahil sa dinulot ng bagyo.
