We are saddened by the announcement of Albay Animal Rescue and Adoption’s (AARA) closure. For the past three years, AARA has been a beacon of hope for the stray, abandoned, and neglected animals of Albay. Their dedication to the cause has made a big impact on animal welfare in the province which inspired countless individuals to take action and care for animals in need.

As AARA transitions towards this difficult chapter, we wish to express our gratitude for their commitment and service. Their work will forever be remembered as a cornerstone in the animal welfare movement in Albay.

With AARA’s closure, TAARA remains as the only active animal rescue organization in the province. While we are determined to continue the fight for the voiceless, we recognize the challenges ahead. Sustaining the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of animals—while advocating for stronger animal welfare policies—requires immense resources, manpower, and community support.

It is with this renewed mission that we also announce the updated meaning of TAARA: The Albay Animal Rescue Alliance. Originally formed as "Tabaco Animal Rescue and Adoption," we realized that our work extends far beyond the City of Tabaco. Our operations have consistently covered the entire province of Albay and would even reach neighboring provinces which reflects our commitment to helping animals wherever they are in need.

We will also be renaming our page to “TAARA: Bicolandia’s Voice for the Voiceless” to better reflect our expanded scope and continued advocacy for the welfare of animals across the Bicol Region.

In view of the foregoing, we humbly call on all animal advocates in Albay and the Bicol Region to rally behind us. This is a fight we cannot win alone. Together, with your support—whether through volunteering, fostering, donating, or spreading awareness—we can continue to uphold the legacy of organizations like AARA and ensure that no dog or cat in our region is left behind.

To the trustees, board members, and volunteers of AARA, thank you for paving the way for a stronger, more compassionate animal welfare community in Albay. Know that your efforts have made a difference, and we will strive to build on the foundation you have laid.

BE SOFIE's LAST HOPE: CALLING FOR SPONSORS TO HELP COVER THIS DOG'S VETTING COSTS🥺

It’s heartbreaking to write this, but this poor dog’s story needs to be told. A concerned individual reported:

"Kailangan po siyang ma-rescue, pero wala pong oras ang may-ari para dalhin siya sa vet. Sakit po sa dibdib hintayin na lang daw mamatay."

For the past three days, her case has been circulating on Facebook, but despite shares and "ups," no one has taken action to help. Sadly, we are unable to step in fully due to the overwhelming vet bills we’ve been trying to manage, which now exceed ₱500,000.

We suspect her illness could be prolapse, TVT, or something equally serious. Without immediate vet care, her suffering will only escalate. Yet, despite the urgency of her situation, we are unable to take her in due to our financial constraints. Our organization is drowning in vet debts amounting to over half a million forcing us to halt rescues and focus on the rescues currently under our care.

But this doesn’t mean we’ve stopped caring. This case has broken our hearts, and we are doing everything in our power to find her a lifeline. That’s why we’re calling out to you—our community, ka-TAARA—to help us save her.

Our rescuers and volunteers are physically and emotionally exhausted. We’ve faced case after case of animal neglect and cruelty, and without sufficient funds, we’ve had to make the painful decision to limit our operations. Still, we cannot ignore this dog’s dire condition. However, we can’t do it alone—we urgently need someone to SPONSOR her vet care.

Without sponsorship, we simply cannot afford to bring her to the vet. But with your help, we can give her the care and love she deserves. Please let's do it again.

The holiday season, while filled with joy and celebration for 𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙨, can be a source of significant distress for our furry companions. The loud, explosive sounds of 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨 and firecrackers, which are amplified for dogs due to their heightened hearing sensitivity, can trigger 𝙖𝙣𝙭𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮, 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧, and even 𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙨.

𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦:
🐾 Keep your dogs indoor.
🐾 Give them a safe space to hide and feel comfortable.
🐾 Play some calming music and try to talk to them.
🐾 Keep them busy by giving them chew toys for distractment.

𝗗𝗜𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜-𝗔𝗡𝗫𝗜𝗘𝗧𝗬 𝗪𝗥𝗔𝗣:
🐾𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞: Ensure the fabric is long enough to wrap around your dog's torso.
🐾𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐞: Place the middle of the fabric across your dog's chest.
🐾𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬: Bring the ends up, over shoulders, then cross on the back.

🐾𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞: Bring the ends under the belly, cross again, and tie a knot.

By taking proactive measures to address our pets' anxieties during the holiday season, we can ensure their well-being and make the festivities enjoyable for everyone, including our furry family members.🐾💛💙

𝐀 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐨

The 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 (𝗕𝗨-𝗔𝗪𝗦), an organization dedicated to promoting not just the welfare of animals but also human compassion, is issuing a heartfelt appeal to the University administration, in collaboration with partner organizations such as the 𝘉𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘴 (𝘉𝘜𝘓), 𝘉𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴 (𝘉𝘜-𝘈𝘚𝘗), 𝘉𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘋𝘦𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 (𝘉𝘜𝘋𝘚), and 𝘉𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 𝘠 𝘊𝘭𝘶𝘣 (𝘉𝘜𝘊𝘠𝘊).

𝗜𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰. BU-AWS is deeply concerned about the potential impact of a rushed return to campus on the mental and physical well-being of students. The added pressure of a tight timeframe to pack up belongings, and prepare for the resumption of classes, particularly after the destruction caused by #𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗣𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼, can induce heightened levels of academic stress.

BU-AWS believes that granting students additional time to prepare would foster a more conducive academic environment. Sufficient rest and relaxation can enhance physical health, thereby improving students' cognitive abilities. Given that many students traveled back to their hometowns in 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲, which were severely affected by Typhoon Pepito.

Furthermore, by demonstrating empathy and understanding, the University can create a supportive and nurturing environment that prioritizes the holistic well-being of its students.

BU-AWS urges the administration to consider this plea and take steps to reduce the undue stress experienced by students during the aftermath of the disater. A compassionate approach will not only benefit the students' academic performance but also contribute to their overall well-being and future success.
