HOokworm resistance to dewormers now detected!!!!

A case of a border colllie treated with pyrantel, fenbendazole, febantel and milbemycin for 6 weeks but still had hookworms after the treatment period.

This has been described in a 2019 study(1) where it conclusively demonstrated multiple anthelmintic resistance in multiple independent isolates of Ancylostoma caninum. They also found out that the resistant hookworms originated from racing greyhound farms and kennels, which is supported by a 2021 study (2).
