The Alaskan Malamute's thick, double coat does shed constantly. Having this type of fur means they need to be brushed regularly. At Lucky Fur, we don’t recommend summer cut to this breed because it can affect how their hair grows back in. Sadly the coat of this Malamute had to be shaved as it was unlikely to feel the skin under all the matts, knots and debris. These poor dogs has also skin infections as the matting prevented proper airflow.
