HIGHLIGHTS:
Available Chlorine: 70%
Has higher chlorine content than liquid bleach
High/Basic pH - typically partnered with Dry Acid (Sodium Bisulfate) to decrease pH
More stable and safer to handle than liquid bleach
Dosage: 53 g / 10,000 L
USES:
Intended for disinfectants, sanitizers, fungicides, bactericides and algaecides for pools, spas, hot tubs & water treatment
HANDLING & STORAGE:
Corrosive and hygroscopic (readily absorbs moisture)
Keep in tightly sealed containers
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area
HAZARDS:
May intensify fire (oxidizer)
Corrosive
Harmful if inhaled / ingested.
Can cause irritation and chemical burns (in severe cases) upon skin contact.
Can cause serious eye irritation.
HOW TO USE:
1. Test the chlorine level of the pool using Pentair 4-in-1 Test Kit. If the chlorine level is less than 1 ppm, chlorine must be added.
2. Calculate the total volume of the pool to be treated.
3. Compute the amount of chlorine to be added based on the total volume of the pool and the dosage of Calcium Hypochlorite which is 53g/10,000L.
4. Dissolve the correct amount of Calcium Hypochlorite to a small amount of pool water in a separate pail. Then, evenly add the solution to the pool perimeter.
5. Wait for 1-2 hours and recheck the chlorine level of the pool water. The optimum range is from 1-3 ppm.
6. If the chlorine level is still less than 1 ppm, repeat steps 2-5.
TIPS:
Better to ‘shock’ your pool at dusk, to avoid chlorine depletion by sunlight
Wait at least 8 hours before using the pool, to avoid skin and eye irritation.
FIRST-AID MEASURES:
INHALATION: Move victim into fresh air. Give artificial respiration, if breathing has stopped. For difficulty in breathing, give oxygen. Seek medical attention if discomfort continues.
SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated clothing and wash affected area with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
EYE CONTACT: Hold eyelids apart and flush immediately with water for at least 20 minutes. Seek medical attention if discomfort continues.
INGESTION: DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Allow victim to wash his mouth and immediately give large amounts of water. If vomiting occurs, lean victim forward to prevent breathing in vomit. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person. Seek medical attention if discomfort continues.
