Did you know? That Laika, the space dog, has a fascinating and heartbreaking story. Laika was a stray dog found on the streets of Moscow. In 1957, during the early days of the space race, the Soviet Union launched the satellite Sputnik 2 into orbit with Laika on board. She became the first living creature to orbit the Earth.

Unfortunately, Laika's mission was one-way, as there were no plans to bring her back to Earth. The technology to de-orbit had not yet been developed. She spent a few hours in orbit before her life ended tragically.🙁
