Meet 𝐖𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬, a 7-month-old poodle, now 𝟐 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐨𝐩 following repair of a 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐞 (commonly known as “cherry eye”).

The 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 plays an important role in 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. In the past, removal of the pr*****ed gland was common, but this significantly increases the risk of 𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐜𝐚 (𝐝𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐲𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞) later in life.

For Waffles, we used the 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭 (𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭) 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞, which tucks the gland back into position rather than removing it. This method 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and greatly 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 compared to gland removal.

Aside from the valuable learnings gained during the 30th PAHA Annual Conference, Dr. Jonathan G. Lugtu is bringing home a brand-new FiDX Fluorescent Immunoassay Analyzer from EVR Vet Options Corporation and a General Surgery Set from FTL Vetprovisions Corp. A huge thank you for these additions to our practice!

In addition, our clinic has also purchased a new endoscopy machine—a big step forward in enhancing the care we provide for our furry patients.

Our head veterinarian, Dr. Jonathan G. Lugtu, is in Cebu City, the oldest city and first capital of the Philippines!

He is attending the 30th PAHA (Philippine Animal Hospital Association, Inc.) Annual Conference, a 3-day event from September 2–4, 2025, with the theme “Three Decades of Innovation: Shaping the Future of Companion Animal Practice in the Philippines.”

This ensures that our practice stays updated and in line with the latest trends in veterinary care, gaining new knowledge and innovations that we can bring back to better serve our patients and clients.

Quequec was brought to the clinic today for the booster of her core vaccines. It is funny how her fur parent did not remember her birthday and wrote “AGE DOESN’T MATTER” instead. They may not remember her exact birthday but what is important is they remembered the date of her booster shots because AGE REALLY DOES NOT MATTER when it comes to sickness. That is why it is very important to have your pet’s deworming and vaccination updated. Remember, prevention is better than cure. 💙

We'd like to ask for a favor... We are in need of a helper, and finding someone with a genuine love for animals is not easy.

The doggos are used to being spoiled. Their hooman (yours truly) juggles work, household chores and animal care. The hooman needs help so that we can keep giving them the high standard of care that we promised.

In addition to salary and accommodation, we provide food allowance for stay-in help (loc: Angeles City, Pampanga) but we are also open to a stay-out arrangement. Other details will be discussed with anyone who inquires.
