And the truth shall set you free! No truer words than this for sure!π
Earlier, we were getting hate messages from some of the Barangay Officials of Imelda in Araneta, Q.C.
So, they claimed that the dog who one of the Barangay Officers hit and run over two days ago was in good hands and that we were only after the donations for this dog! This preposterous claim from the guilty party could not be farther from the truth!
In all honestly, if given a choice, we would prefer that instead of donations given us for the treatment of this dog, this man - their Barangay Public Safety Officer who inflicted so much suffering on this poor stray and his daughter an SK member who harassed the reporter no end, be made to shell out for all medical expenses for the confinement & treatment of this dog! And, that they be made to face charges of Animal Cruelty in a proper venue other than the barangay where the decision might be swung to their favor!
Tonight, we commissioned once again the services of our emergency rescue team and comrades in the Animal Welfare World- Andie Valeriano (of Pier's Pet Camp), Joan Lejano, Raven Hearst and Doc Maria who went to the Hall of Barangay Imelda where they were met with hostility initially.
No one wanted to admit that there was any dog brought in that was run a hit and run victim. Until, Kagawad Baby - an Animal Lover arrived and pacified everyone!
She listened to what our rescuers had to say and admitted that the said Barangay Officer confided in her that he had indeed run over the dog and that he (perhaps because of the flak he was drawing from the angry dog loving citizenry in Facebook had the barangay tanods pick up the dog two days after the accident! The daughter also admitted to Kagawad Baby earlier in the day that she knew what exactly happened and where the dog was!
The pitiful dog was placed in one dark corner and was covered in ants when our rescue team found it! It could not get up and was clearly in pain! It had a huge gaping wound on its neck, cuts all over, a bloated tummy and severe swelling on both its legs & it looked like it sustained a spine fracture!
As we speak, the dog is now being examined at a 24 hour clinic! Thank God our team was able to find one open at this late hour!The medical examination results shall be released tomorrow! π
Please help us pray that this doggo survive the ordeal. It looks really sick. It has severe mucus secretions aside from suffering from
the many injuries listed above!
Distemper is prevalent these days and an immuno-compromised dog such as this has a high probability of getting it immediately!
To the few naysayers, we rest our case! The pictures below show what really took place and how this dog has suffered! We need not say more!
We hope that this serves as a warning to all offenders, no matter if in the seat of power or not, to observe the law and practice compassion for the voiceless!
