Northern Vet Animal Clinic - Manaoag

Northern Vet Animal Clinic - Manaoag We are a diagnostics and treatment specializing companion animal clinic, located in Manaoag Once the pet is sold, it is no longer their problem.

The founders of Northern Vet Animal Clinic has always been animal lovers at heart, and veterinarians second. As pet lovers, they feel glad and at home as Pangasinan embraces pet ownership, as Veterinarians they feel very concerned; unfortunately, "quality, affordable veterinary healthcare" and "responsible and informed pet ownership" has not caught on in general in Pangasinan.

-Accesibility to pe

t clinics is somewhat poor, with many towns such as Manaoag, Mapandan, Mangaldan, San Jacinto, Pozurrubio, San Fabian, Binalonan, San Manuel not having their own animal clinics. People from around these areas would often travel great distances to seek veterinary care, to locations as far as NCR, where reputable hospitals exist.
-Quality pet care is hindered due to old, outdated care practices, substandard diagnoses, lack of proper veterinary equipment, and so on.
-Pangasinan for the longest time has been ranking on or near the top of the list of Philippine provinces with the highest number of cases of rabies, also considered as true for other common dog/cat diseases. The main reason for this is the prevalence of unvaccinated, unneutered, stray dogs and cats.
-Affordability is a question, being that Veterinary Medicine is a small practice in general, and that services has to go through a lot of hoops and bloats to be delivered to the masses.
-Many owners are ill/insufficiently informed about pet ownership. A classic example of this is the rising case of puppies dying of Parvovirus, a disease that can be easily prevented but still kills because puppies are unvaccinated at their proper age.
-Non-reputable breeders, much like NCR's Cartimar or Tiendesitas, only look to make a quick buck and won't care about animal wellness. All of the abovementioned factors are a hindrance, or are slowly killing the blossoming pet ownership industry in Pangasinan. As animal advocates, we see it as our calling and moral responsibility to address the issues, elevate the level of care, and be the well informer for our pet owners.

-We situated our clinic in Manaoag, in the smack center where no other vet clinics reside. This should ease accesibility issues for the are including nearby towns Mapandan, Mangaldan, Binalonan, San Jacinto, Pozurrubio, and so on.
-Our doctors have years upon years of veterinary experience coming from the elite animal hospitals of Makati, to the fields and farms of Pangasinan. This combination ensures we get the right calls for any situation.
-We look to invest in more state of the art equipment, to complement our top level software and IT. This will ensure we deliver efficient, on point service, which does not compromise.
-As we establish our network, we look to partnering with local organizations to vaccination drives, spay/neuter drives, and ownership awareness to our owners.
-If there's a cheaper, effective way to do things, we will advise that-- but not in the name of effectivity and efficiency. We also ensure to engage only with reputable and as much as possible, direct suppliers so we don't have to deal with bloated profit cuts. To cut our story short, our bottom line is that low cost, top level vetcare standards should not be an exclusive right for elite pet owners. We imagine a time where anyone can have a pet, not worrying that they are not well informed, that they have no one to turn on to in case they need help. This is our goal, our vision that we work towards to achieve.

A full body custom cut isn't always needed for that clean, fresh, dazzling look... Sometimes, a basic trim will do the job and let out that inner gorgeousness shine. ☺️

Basic trim, sometimes called a sanitary or maintenance trim, is where the groomer takes care of the areas of your dog which are most prone to dirt and matting - head, ears, paws/pads, undersides, butt. Body fur, as long as it is well brushed and maintained at home, is left intact lengthwise, or very lightly retouched.

Compared to custom trims, basic trim is quicker and more forgiving, which is especially helpful when the patient is very skittish or easily becomes tired. Basic trim is also commonly used when owners wish for an intermediary trim, while waiting for their dog's hair to grow - usually in preparation for a more sophisticated trim, such as puppy/bearcut style.

While basic trim can often be very , it main purpose is always for maintenance or sanitary reasons - as its namesake applies. Such is the case for Miro here, whose overgrown hair is fully covering the eyes prior to grooming.

Is your cat a picky eater? Do they eat, but make a mess on the floor instead of on the bowl? Maybe they are overstimulated! Hear us out..

You see, cat's whiskers may look like hair, but its actually a proper sensory organ. It is full of sensitive nerve endings, responsible for helping the cat navigate, see, and measure distances. As such, cats don't like it when the whiskers hit something unintended, such as the walls and edges of their food bowl...

Therefore, wide and shallow feeding bowl is the key!
Share to that friend who has a picky cat, let's see if they improve!

🐶🐱

Are you planning to get a puppy or kitten this upcoming holiday season? Are you concerned on missing out on your due diligence when acquiring them?

There are a lot of nuances to consider when getting a new pet. Here we have our top 5 tips to ensure that you are acquiring your pet in tip top shape.

1️⃣ Reputation. Transact only with trusted breeders and always consider what other people say about them. Look for them in social media, and check reviews, feedback, and what they share online. Huge bonus points if they not only share pictures of the litter, but their lifestyle growing up.

2️⃣ Living Environment. Visiting the place where litter is kept is super helpful. A well-maintained place is clean, have a dedicated spot where the animals p**p and p*e, and a separate spot where they eat, drink and rest. Bonus points if the breeder keeps them in a dedicated kennel or cattery.

3️⃣ Health Records - Is the litter being dewormed? Do they have properly filled, presentable vaccination cards or pet passport? Are they being seen by a licensed veterinarian, whose signature also appears on their record? YES as an answer to these questions are BIG plus signs that the litter is well taken care of.

4️⃣ The Parents. Are the litter's parents healthy as well? Did the mother breastfeed the litter? Are they also updated on their health records? These are important questions, because milk (especially colostrum, or the first milk drop) is invaluable in helping fight sickness while the litter is vulnerable. Also, worms and ticks can be passed down to the litter if the mother have them.

5️⃣ Overall Health. scruffy fur, presence of ticks or fleas, rashes or pimples are indicators that the litter may be unhealthy. Another simple test is to run your fingers at the back of the pet - if the spine can be prominently felt, this may indicate that the pet is thin or malnourished. Ideally also, the older the pet, the less chances they have to get sick, and can better get used to their new environment.

We hope the tips we shared is helpful, especially to new and aspiring fur-parents! Feel free to share if you have a friend who's going to be a fur parent soon! And as always, your pet can help with your pet wellness inquiries. 😘

Ugh, that butt hole looks gnarly..🫣🫣

When your pet p**ps so hard that part of the intestine comes out, it's called re**al prolapse. Almost all of it starts from excessive straining when p*eing or pooing, which in turn may be because of diarrhea, imbalanced diet, very hard stool, blockages in p*eing, irritation or inflammation, or itching due to worms and other intestinal parasites.

Re**al prolapse is a medical emergency when it happens; while it does not immediately harm a pet like cardiac arrest would, but it can cause permanent tissue damage if neglected. Also, the presence of prolapse usually indicates a bigger problem that needs to be addressed, which caused the prolapse in the first place.

When this happens, it is important to see your vet immediately. Under anesthesia, the protruding tissue will be put back in place, and a special stitch may be deployed to ensure it won't go out again.

In the meantime, the exposed area needs to be kept clean and moist with saline water, and ensuring your pet cannot reach it.

For a vet clinic, you know something good is up when a dog comes in outgoing and playful, rather than being skittish and afraid. :)

Landian 45secs, vaccine 15secs. 🤔😳😅

Vaccine visit should have been over quickly, but building rapport takes time. :)

For us, we dont think that doing just the doctor parts suffice. Yes, it's efficient, but it's cold. Building some rapport is how we like it, not just with the client, but with the patient too. We are super happy to hear client stories where when they bring their pets to us, instead of shaking in fear, they are jumping in excitement... As if vet visits is the norm and the vet is their long lost tita who always spoils them rotten. 😎😎

..One of the many ways we try to improve our patient's recovery chances is by ensuring they get appropriate warmth or cool, without relying on the confinement room's ambient temperature. This can be accomplished with use of warm/infrared lights, room AC, blankets, and sometimes hot and cold compress.

This, along with regular temp checks during our rounds, ensures our patients are comfy, well maintained, and well postured for the best chances of recovery.

The little things we add to our regular treatment plan can sometimes be a little too much, But we will do it anyway, if it helps them even just a little. Nothing beats the feeling of relief when a patient eats for the first time in a long time, giving us a clear signal of their recovery. 😊

👁👁Blue eyes! Teeehh! Hindi lahat ng blue eyes afam! Charaught! 😆

Many pet owners have this perception that pets with blue eyes are imported, or have breed, and therefore . This is not always the case!

Especially if your pet wasn't born with blue eyes, the condition can be what's called UVEITIS, generally an inflammation and/or infection of eyeballs. This is not an illness by itself, but a symptom of another disease of varying severity such as eye trauma, ehrlichiosis, tumor, diabetes, distemper, cataracts and more.

Before you rush in for an emergency vet checkup though, uveitis itself is not life threatening, especially if it is the only symptom. It is always worth taking a look at by your trusty vet though, to identify and treat its cause and make it the blueness go away.

When uveitis presents with other symptoms, clinics with diagnostic facilities and tonometry can really narrow down the cause and stop a potentially lethal disease before it progresses.

Serious tone aside, Aspins and Puspins can be born with blue eyes! Hindi lang imported breeds! And yes, it can be aesthetically pleasing, especially those cats and dogs with different colored eyes! 🥰

Kamusta ang buhay Amerika, Ziggy? 😊

We are super glad to be able to help Ziggy fly to the US via our relocation services! If coming from the province, importing pets to another country used to be very difficult, if not impossible. This is due to the strict health, quarantine and breed restrictions that other countries have, not to mention the amount of paperwork and pet records that need to be transacted directly with Bureau of Animal Industry in Manila.

As it stands, we are now able to help in all of these without the need to travel to and from Manila, including processing samples for testing, especially for anti-rabies. Work still has to be done, but at least it isn't going to be as difficult as before! :)

In summary, what was impossible to do in the province before, we can now process. Chat with us if you need help for relocating your pets.
