Dogs are more than just pets; they are loyal friends, protectors, and family members. A four-legged friend will make our life so much better and why we should truly appreciate these amazing companions every day.

Celebrated annually every 3rd Saturday of May is World Dog Day, a great opportunity to appreciate our canine friends and the love and joy they bring to our lives.

Simple way to celebrate and make them feel loved :
1. Adopt a puppy or abandoned dog from your local animal shelter.
2. Donate food, toys, or an old mattress to animal shelters.
3. Check your house to make sure there is nothing dangerous your dog can step on, this should be checked regularly.
4. Give your dog a gift: maybe a toy, or a snack.
5. Take your dog out to play, so that he can freely run, play and release energy.
6. Participating in supporting animal protection organizations.

Every little thing above is important and meaningful to your dog. And if you can do all of the above, believe that you have contributed to improving the lives and longevity of them all.

This day is set aside to raise awareness on disaster preparedness for animals and how to cater to them in dire situations. Your pets’ safety and well-being will be extremely dependent on you in an emergency. Your pets need to be included in your disaster emergency plans. On this day, learn many ways to keep your cherished pets safe in the event of a disaster.

If you do not evacuate, look for animals that have been left behind and are in need of food and fresh drinking water. Provide what you can. If possible, safely confine them until their owner can be found. Free any animals that are confined and at risk of being injured or killed if they are not freed.

Our furry friends cannot speak up to stop the mistreatment, so it is up to us to put an end to this. This is where Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month comes into play.
