Underweight - If you can easily see ribs, vertebrae, and pelvic bones, your dog may not be getting enough to eat. Additional signs include feeling no fat on the bones and possible muscle mass loss.

Ideal - Your dog is at an ideal weight if you can easily feel its ribs. A visible waist behind the ribs from above and an evident abdominal tuck from the side are positive indicators.

Overweight - If you can't feel your dog's ribs, see fat deposits over the back and the base of the tail, lack a visible waist from above, and observe no abdominal tuck from the side, your dog might be overweight.
