Orthopedic surgery collab with New Alabang Vet Clinic:
Gabriel was a rescued dog with hindlimb fracture. Casting was attempted but bone did not fuse together and was limping since. His broken bone is now repaired using 2 stainless steel plates positioned at right angle of each other (orthogonal)

Ortho Surgery collab with New Alabang Vet Clinic.

Gabriel had non union fracture even after 1 month external coaptation (fiberglass cast) of hindleg. Broken bone was repaired using 2 stainless steel plates positioned at right angle of each other (orthogonal).

Video shows Gabriel putting weight on operated leg 3 days after surgery. Pets are truly amazing!

Jan 4, 2025: First orthopedic surgery for this year. Every procedure involves unforseen risks so anxiety and tension is high inside this room. As vets, we are entrusted with a pet's life, pets that are valued as member of a client's family.

We never rely solely on our trainings, experiences as well as the skills of our surgery assistants but for every procedure we include a little prayer to guide our hands, make our minds sharp and perform the correct decisions necessary to help our patients every step of the way. This is how we go by day by day, patient after patient.
May this year be the best year for everyone, humans and pets alike.

Probably our farthest 2nd opinion for Ortho Surgery

ELLA (Yorkie) is from Yakima, Washington, USA

She had a torn cranial cruciate ligament and was repaired using extracapsular lateral suture in Washington several months ago.

Leg was better for several months then there were episodes of intermittent limping observed by owner. Attending vet suspected torn lateral suture and was recommended to undergo TPLO surgery.

Xray showed TPA of 33°
Tibia is drawn cranially
MPL upon palpation

Surgical plan is plateau levelling + lateralization to negate cranial drawer and patellar luxation.

Grateful to these amazing and dedicated furparents for trusting Ella to our care. See you in a few months!

Patellar luxation is a developmental joint disease in dogs where knee cap (patella) does not sit smack in the middle of trochlear groove.
Common sign is intermittent limping and leg carrying and is often degenerative and cannot be corrected by medical management. This however can be managed surgically by knee joint reconstruction to correct knee joint system malalignment.
Here is an 8year old 2.2kg patient with Grade 3 MPL corrected using KWire and Tension Band Suturing - sulcoplasty, tuberosity transposition and lateral imbrication.

Another ortho collab with Dr Fred Vallera, and Dr Aldrin Bisa of JurisVet Pet Emergency Hospital at Calamba, Laguna. Patient had a broken jaw and was repaired using titanium locking plate fixation.

This week, we travelled all the way to Lucban, Quezon for a collaboration procedure with one of our Veterinary Orthopedics Masterclass mentee, Dr. Kaye Babista. Patient Hawdii is a 4 year old Chow who sustained a humerus fracture after a bad fall. Bone was stabilized using independent lag screw and supracondylar plate fixation.
