The Farm was happy to welcome people from the Tour Groups of Bataan who are looking for places to include in their tours. They visited the beach resorts in Morong and included the Green Balai Farm in their search. The Runner Ducks were moved so that they could be close to the broken refrigerator that they were using as their swimming and drinking area. Then I saw the "Itik Pinoy"- black ducks from Pateros. Apparently, they were going to be balut. But I needed some ducks. So the fertilized eggs were put in the incubator, and voila!-- my own set of black ducks!
As I walked around the farm, Goliath the male goat needed some human caressing. He put his face next to the fence, and my fingers were able to give him a little rub on his nose. I noticed his goatee- truly a goatee!

MANGO SEASON IS ALMOST OVER. WELCOME TO DRAGON FRUIT SEASON!!!
We put a video on how the bees pollinate the dragon fruits. We have bees in the farm who get very busy this time of the year. For the dragon fruits that are self-fertile, you need to hand pollinate them. You get pollen from another plant, and brush the powder into the pistil.
Anyway, our Farmers close the flower and wrap them with paper to make sure the pollination is successful. After a while, the beautiful flowers wilt, and the fruit comes out, closer to the stem.
The Green Balai Farm has 52 varieties of dragon fruit. We have the whole spectrum of colors, from white to pink to dark red. Then we have the yellows, too.

GREEN BALAI FARM IS AT THE ANVAYA GOLF CLUB, MORONG, BATAAN.
Today, Independence Day June 12, 2024, golfers are not only enjoying a holiday playing golf, but they also have a chance to buy Bataan products like kimchi radish (Janna's), Kamote chips, and the famous Buko Pie of Aling Ester Domingo. The Green Balai Farm's most popular offer seems to be its unusually shaped mangoes.

I have a few lotus plants for those who have a pond in their house. I had to get it from someone in Quezon Province. They are really pretty.

BASKET OF ORGANICALLY GROWN FRUITS ON MY DINNER TABLE.
I have been away so long that I was surprised to see these fruits in my dinner table. The mangoes were so diverse in size and color! The papayas, too! And I was surprised to see a pomelo in the middle. They have been in season for a long time, so I half expected them to be gone. But my visit to the farm showed many still hanging in their branches. There is nothing so uplifting than being back to nature again.
ELENA MANGOES (the elongated sweet mango) CAN NOW BE BOUGHT AT THE NEWGRANGE CONDOTEL along Timog Avenue, Quezon City. They were picked at the break of dawn and brought to Manila today. They can be bought at P150 per kilo. Try them!
KALAMANSI-PICKING TIME!!!
One of the sources of income of the Farm is selling Kalamansi Juice. We have around 200 kalamansi trees, and kalamansi juice is very popular with our clients. We package and label them.
LOOKING FOR VANILLA PLANTERS IN THE COUNTRY.
The Vanilla Industry Development Association is searching for vanilla planters in the Philippines. There is a world market for vanilla, but we need to have an economic size in order to be viable in the exportation of the product. The group met in Malvar, Batangas, yesterday at the Villegas Organic and Hobby ECO-Tourism Farm. It was a fruitful meeting, with a demonstration on planting the cuttings from Pabs Villegas. Andrew Diaz, a Malvar Vanilla consultant showed the desired qualities of vanilla pods, and also gave a lecture on proper looping the plants after they have grown over six feet tall.
CRIOLLE COCOA. Until I had the farm, I never knew how cocoa looked like, the fruit, I mean. So when I saw Ramon Iligan advertise the cocoa, I immediately ordered some. Here they are after two years of growing, bearing fruit. I only had four trees survive out of the ten seedlings that I ordered. So now we are making them first into seeds by drying the seeds, then planting them. I hope we are able to grow more plants so that we can make them into tableas.

At the Green Balai Farm, we put our rejected fruits-- mangoes and macopas are in season this May-- into drums, fill them up with water, add molasses and ferment them. The water is used to fertilize your plants.

FRESH TILAPIA FOR SALE! Buy your fresh tilapia at the Pasalubong Store. They are in an aquarium. Pick out which fish/es that you want, have them weighed, pay, and you are ready to go!
How to Bag the Mushroom Fruiting Bags using a machine. The Bagging Machine was bought to speed up the fruiting bags and to save on labor costs. This fruiting bag machine can bag up to 1,000 bags in a day. Initially, the farm used five persons to bag the mushroom fruiting bags. They were able to bag, all five of them, a total of 200 bags a day. So, this machine could bag at a more economical rate than using five persons for four days.
FRENCH TOULOUSE GEESE BATHES IN A "SAUCY" BATHTUB. The Toulouse Geese are the noisiest animals on the farm. They make good guards and will attack anyone. For once, I saw how Toulouse geese take a bath. The water tap had flowing water, and the goose decided to put on a show for her bath.
WHO WINS IN THIS BATTLE? It is between the Caretaker who wants to clean the Pig Pen, the Large Black Pig who is already hungry, and the baby native pig who seems to have no say in the matter.
The hatched chickens are now segregated according to kind-- Czech dominant, Rhode Island Mahogany, barred, bantam... It is so exciting to see so many of them.

The Green Balai Farm is the only organic farm in Morong, Bataan. It offers grafted fruit trees, and trees and shrubs for landscaping. Guests can pick the fruits they want to buy, straight from the trees. Regular fruits for sale are bananas, pomelos, papayas and vegetables. Students can come to observe vermicomposting, and also how the aquaponics system works with raising vegetables. Our mushroom section has been completed, and we are bursting with mushrooms for sale!!!
