In the past few days, Cats of Kai has been the target of misinformation, accusations, and unkind words. It is heartbreaking to face such treatment when all we strive for is the care and well-being of our community cats.

Nevertheless, we will not let this deter us from our mission. Our focus remains unwavering on what truly matters—the well-being of our cats while remaining committed to fostering a harmonious coexistence where both residents and animals can thrive in a community built on understanding and compassion.

In the midst of adversity, Cats of Kai remains unwavering in our commitment to standing up for our community cats. Though the road may be tough, our dedication to providing these precious felines with the care and protection they deserve never falters. We believe every cat deserves a safe, nurturing environment, and we will tirelessly advocate for their well-being while maintaining peaceful coexistence in the community. Together, we rise above adversity, armed with compassion and determination.

Once again, we would like to invite our fellow residents in KGR this coming January 18 to attend the Dialogue on Community Cat Management. Let’s stand together to champion compassion, raise our voices for the voiceless, and fight for what is right. Compassion compels us to care deeply for all beings, and it is our duty to extend this care to our community cats.

Please huwag niyo i-displace mga pusa sa Northgate. We recently discovered na si Troodr na Lawson kitto ay nakarating sa Aeon. Imposibleng makarating siya doon on his own dahil hindi yan umaalis ng Axis.

Kung prank man na ilipat siya dun o kaya natuwa kayo at pinasunod siya hanggang dun, it’s not funny. Pwedeng maging kapalit nito ang buhay nila.

Hindi cute ang pasunurin ang pusa sa inyo, katangahan yun.

Huwag na sana nating dagdagan ang cases similar to Pawfectly Good’s Night Wing (https://www.facebook.com/100075876766998/posts/623761816829705/?)

Volunteers work so hard to keep these animals safe. Huwag niyo na dagdagan stress namin dahil di kayo nagt-think.

Malupit ang mundo sa mga gaya ng kuting na ito... Kung may tao mang sadya syang tinapon sa burak, eh karma na ang bahala sayo!

Pinaliguan ng maligamgam at nilagay sa heating pad na rubber. Mainitan man lang ang katawan. Hindi sya makasipsip sa syringe, need nito dede ng nanay.

📚 Our BACK TO BASICS SERIES: "the vacuum effect"
👉 Why "catch and kill" doesn't work.

A vacuum occurs when a population is removed from an area, opening the territory for outsiders to take advantage of it's resources. Some people believe that if you remove cats from an area (catch and kill), you will solve the problem. What they don't realize is that the resources in that area (food and shelter, for example) remain and will attract other cats from neighboring areas to take advantage of those resources.

Why don't we just catch and euthanize the cats in an area rather than TNR them? Because "catch and kill" doesn't work to solve the community cat population problem. Plus, killing otherwise healthy cats is inhumane.

Cats are territorial, so when you remove cats from a territory (when you "catch and kill"), new cats will move in to take advantage of the resources available in that territory. Those cats will also need to be captured, and the cycle will continue to no end. The better solution is to TNR the cats already in the area and let them defend their space against newcomers.

Exterminating community cats does not work to control the cat population. The only proven method is TNR -- and it happens to be the only HUMANE way as well. The attached link leads to a short article from Alley Cat Allies with more details about "the vacuum effect." Support TNR in your community!
