My wife, who was with me during a good part of the event, was able to take some pictures. We'll put together something for you guys soon. Here's my photo edit in the meantime ... this didn't actually happen, okay ✌🙂

AMAZING how the colors on this Barnhart black pastel double het hypo pied improved in a little over a year! I had to double check her pattern to make sure I was looking at the same snake.

I think we have something quite interesting here. I am always curious to know what the base gene looks like. For example, a GeneX Pied, I'd like to see what a GeneX looks like by itself. Sort of deconstructing combos for those genes that I am unfamiliar with.
If you've read my previous posts about this clown combo we have, this should be a red gene clown. If you search online though, it doesn't look like any of the red gene clowns out there. We should know more about what this gene is all about in the coming years. It might be part of the yellowbelly complex as you can see in the base gene photo that we shared here, at least that's what I think is the base gene. Pix heavy post. In the absence of a video, we'd like to share as much info as we can. Let me know what you guys think ✌

Banana Red Stripe Yellowbelly Clown from Jake Ancheta. He and I had rs h clown siblings and female banana clowns at the same time. He hatched this combo for the 2nd year now, I believe. I am hoping to hatch this in maybe 2 years 😄 Congrats, Jake!

Been wanting to feature Barnhart Black Pastel Clowns for some time now but haven't had a chance to take current pictures. Had a few minutes today so I had to snap a few to share. These are from 2 different clutches. The male is darker than the females so I suppose the moms had a big enough influence on their looks. Wanted to show how amazing their colors are at the 1 year mark.
These are my personal picks and are holdbacks so, they are not for sale. We do have a 2023 hatched male Barnhart Black Pastel Banana het Clown (female maker) and a breeder Barnhart Black Pastel het Clown available for sale. If you want the opportunity to have bps like these next year, he's your best bet 👍🙂

Very happy to know that desert ghosts are bred just like any other recessive gene. These hatched from a DG h Clown x Pastel Clown h DG pairing. Both bps came from different breeders in the US. Got visual DGs so all is well 🙂
They will all be available soon as they have at least 3 meals each.

Our Story

“What? Snakes?! Are you crazy?!” This is the usual reaction I get when family and friends learn that we have ball pythons.

I’ve always had a fascination for snakes when I was a boy. I marvelled at the reticulated pythons that I saw in pet shops and often asked the store keepers if I could handle the snake. Of course I would first ask them to show me that the snake was tame. That always didn’t end well. Wild caught reticulated pythons aren’t the friendliest, I learned.

I was on the lookout for a snake that was manageable, pet quality. Many, many years later, after marriage and 2 kids, during one of our family vacations, we visited my sister in Florida. She brought us to this pet store as our kids loved animals. The store had a LOT of snakes. There was a large aquarium that had many hatchlings in it and the keeper was handling a few quite easily. I asked to handle one and she allowed it. After a few minutes with the snake, which I later learned was a ball python, I was hooked!

Ball pythons are very beautiful and interesting creatures! People often think that they are dangerous because snakes are aggressive and are usually thought to be “poisonous.” A fellow hobbyist once told me that anything with teeth will bite. Think of all the people you know who have been bitten by man’s best friend!
