𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙨:
Seiryu Stone is one of the most popular hardscapes that most hobbyists use to create an aesthetically pleasing landscape, it contains a large amount of Calcium that is essential for the health of both plants and livestock. It also contains Carbonate which is a vital element for buffering pH value.

𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨:
Too many Seiryu Stones or similar stones that are highly calcareous in one tank can cause a rapid increase in KH, causing the pH to rise over time. KH fluctuations affect both livestock and plants, as changes in carbonate concentrations impact osmotic functions in livestock and also carbon utilization in plants. It's advisable not to change the KH rapidly. Avoid using too many limestones such as seiryu stone in a small aquarium. Ideally, KH should only be kept around 0.5 to 2°KH for best plant health. Having a 1 to 2-point pH swing over the day won't cause any health problems for most livestock and plants, but rapid KH changes do.

Some hobbyists suggest that tanks with 24/7 CO2 supply can make a significant benefit for aquatic plants' health because of stable pH value - 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙈𝙮𝙩𝙝

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆:
New scientific journals and studies related to aquascape and nature published in 2021-2023 show 𝙥𝙃 𝙨𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨, 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙙 𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨. In fact, pH swing is very common in natural lakes/rivers and it happens very rapidly almost daily due to changes in Carbon Dioxide(CO2) concentrations in almost all natural bodies of water. This parameter 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧, but having a 1 to 2 pH swing over the day is completely harmless even for beneficial bacteria.

𝗜𝘀 𝟮𝟰/𝟳 𝗖𝗢𝟮 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆?
The short answer is "No". Plants only utilize Carbon Dioxide(CO2) when light is present as part of Photosynthesis to produce Molecular Oxygen(O2). During the night cycle, plants will stop absorbing CO2 and begin absorbing O2 to produce CO2, this process is called respiration. In short, aquatic plants are in total reverse mode during respiration. Therefore, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙊2 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗞𝗛'𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.
The pH is closely tied to KH concentration also known as Carbonate Hardness. Which measures the amount of carbonate(CO3) and bicarbonate(HCO3) ions in the water. Most tap water contains carbonate, the greater the carbonate concentrations, the higher the pH is and the more resilient to any factors that can acidify or lower it.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗛 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿?
Most hobbyists suggest that having 1° to 3°KH is ideal. However, new studies suggest that even as low as 0.5°KH (8.9ppm carbonate/bicarbonate) is completely fine and will not cause any problem in CO2-injected tanks as long as CO2 concentration is not at the highest point when it becomes toxic. Changing the KH level over a short period might negatively impact the plants and livestock, so 𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙙 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙛𝙡𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙨' 𝙆𝙃 and also avoid stones that contains Calcium Carbonate such as Seiryu Stone.

Does supplying more iron bring out better red coloration?

The answer is "NO". It's just a myth.

Enough Iron is highly essential for survival, it's one of the most important key elements for plants to support vital metabolic enzymes. Iron is involved in the synthesis of chlorophyll, making it the most important element in Micronutrients.

But red pigmentation(anthocyanin/responsible for red coloration) in some aquatic plants doesn't even use iron at all. The only way to bring out red colorations is to expose the plants to high-intensity lighting, especially "strong full-spectrum light", any strong light that hits a plant will cause damage to their cells, forcing them to produce protective pigment called anthocyanin(red pigment) to act like a sunscreen. There are multiple kinds of protective pigments with different colors, but anthocyanin is the most red among all protective pigments.

Ideally, iron should only be supplemented by 0.07 ppm more or less per day, even in heavily planted aquariums. Neutral to alkaline PH levels also impact the availability of iron, making it difficult to dose in low-tech aquariums.

The answer is

The majority of algae species are photosynthetic, they need light as an energy source to reproduce just like plants, but they don't need strong light to multiply rapidly, as long as there's plenty of food source for algae, a small amount of light is enough for them to thrive. Some species of algae such as Diatoms also known as Brown Algae are not photosynthetic, they don't need light to thrive, so reducing light intensity for these kinds of algae can make your problem even worse. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙖𝙚 𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙢, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙖𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝. Strong light will never cause algae if water quality is checked especially for maintaining zero ammonia and providing proper balance from plant mass, CO2, fertilizer, reasonable fish load, and quality filtration system.

𝙆𝙚𝙮𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙖𝙚:
✔️ Add more plants especially fast-growing stem plants
✔️ Do not overfeed
✔️ Hire small species of clean-up crew such as Cherry Shrimps and Otocinclus
✔️ Provide the lighting intensity according to the plant's needs, do not be afraid of strong light if you have enough plant mass
✔️ Maintain good water quality
✔️ Enrich the substrate with quality nutrients to support stronger growth
✔️ Dose lean type of fertz in the water column if needed, just enough to feed up the plants. Dosing very less can cause plants to suffer
✔️ Be consistent and be patient
