CATS are amazing creatures, and we have hundreds of them at the sanctuary. 😻🐾

These incredible felines were once homeless, abandoned, or in dire need of care. Now, they fill our days with joy through their funny antics, their curious nature, and—of course—their constant reminders that they’re the boss! 😸

Here are some fascinating facts that show just how truly amazing cats are:

🐈 Super Hearing Powers: Cats can hear sounds four to five times farther than what humans can detect. Their ears are like mini radars!

🐈 Whisker Wonders: Those adorable whiskers? They’re not just for show—they help cats measure spaces to see if they can fit through. They're like built-in rulers!

🐈 Night Vision Ninjas: Cats can see in almost complete darkness, making them the ultimate nighttime explorers.

🐈 Purring with Purpose: Cats purr not just when they’re happy, but also to calm themselves or even heal.

🐈 Fur-tastic Speed: Domestic cats can run up to 30 miles per hour in short bursts. Blink, and they're gone!

🐈 Unique Nose Prints: Every cat’s nose is as unique as a human fingerprint. No two are alike!

🐈 Language of the Tail: Cats use their tails to express emotions. A high, straight tail means they’re happy or confident, while a puffed-up tail shows fear or aggression. A tail flicking back and forth quickly usually means they’re irritated, while a slow swish might show curiosity or focus. Pay attention—your cat’s tail says it all!

🐈 Sleep Experts: Cats sleep for 12–16 hours a day on average, spending almost 70% of their lives napping.

🐈 Silent Stalkers: Cats walk on their toes, which makes their footsteps quiet and stealthy—perfect for sneaking up on their prey or your snack!

🐈 Ancient Companions: Cats have been by our side for over 4,000 years and were even worshipped in Ancient Egypt as sacred beings.

Our sanctuary wouldn’t be the same without these remarkable companions, and it’s all thanks to your support that they have a safe and loving home. 💜🐾

Note: 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ Cats can give birth to litters 2 to 3 times a year, with each litter typically consisting of 3 to 6 kittens. It is highly recommended to have your cats spayed or neutered to prevent overpopulation and to safeguard their health and well-being.

Celebrating WORLD PANGOLIN DAY – February 15, 2025

Yesterday was World Pangolin Day, and though we’re a day late, we want to honor these extraordinary and often overlooked creatures. Back in 2018, we had the rare and unforgettable experience of intercepting an illegal trade involving a pangolin. After the rescue operation, we personally turned the pangolin over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to ensure its safety and proper handling. This experience reinforced our commitment to protecting wildlife and advocating for those who cannot defend themselves.

Pangolins are gentle, shy mammals covered in scales, and their unique defense mechanism—rolling into a ball—unfortunately makes them easy targets for poachers. These animals are hunted and trafficked for their scales, believed to have medicinal properties, and their meat, considered a delicacy. This exploitation has pushed many pangolin species to the brink of extinction.

Republic Act No. 9147, known as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001, provides comprehensive measures for the conservation and protection of wildlife in the Philippines, including pangolins. Under this law, the Philippine Pangolin (Manis culionensis) is classified as a critically endangered species, making it illegal to hunt, possess, or trade these animals. Violations can result in severe penalties, including imprisonment ranging from six to twelve years and fines between PHP 100,000 to 1,000,000.00

We must raise awareness about their struggle and advocate for stronger protection and enforcement against wildlife trafficking. Let’s work toward a world where pangolins are safe in their natural habitats, free from harm and exploitation.

The Humane Treatment of Animals is a Legal Responsibility 🐾

Under the Animal Welfare Act, it is unlawful for any person to subject an animal to unnecessary pain and suffering. These laws are in place to protect animals from harm and to ensure their welfare and rights are upheld.

Neglect is a serious offense and often stems from the irresponsibility of pet owners. Whether out of indifference, ignorance, or deliberate neglect, placing an animal's life and well-being at risk is a violation of the law and carries serious legal consequences. Neglect can take many forms, including:

- Failing to provide a safe and comfortable shelter—leaving animals chained or confined in small, cramped spaces for long periods, or exposing them to extreme weather conditions.

- Failing to provide adequate food and clean water, leading to malnutrition and dehydration.

- Failing to provide necessary veterinary care, leaving them to suffer from diseases, untreated wounds, or injuries.

- Abandonment—leaving them to fend for themselves, exposing them to starvation, harm, or death.

Owning a pet is a privilege, not a right. Failing to fulfill responsibilities and provide basic needs constitutes neglect.

The SLAUGHTER OF DOGS FOR MEAT is a grave violation of the Animal Welfare Act and is punishable by law. This barbaric practice is both cruel and inhumane, with no place in a compassionate and lawful society.

If you witness the slaughter of dogs or any form of abuse, act immediately. Do not rely solely on posting about it on social media, as help may come too late for the animal. Instead, take immediate action by intervening if it is safe to do so, call police hotline 911 or seek assistance from the nearest police station or barangay. These authorities have the power and responsibility to stop the slaughter or abuse and address the situation promptly.

We share comments like this to address a mindset that reflects a misunderstanding of the importance of animal rescue and the responsibility we all share in creating a compassionate world.

Rescuing animals in need is not 'katangahan,' but a conscious decision to save lives that would otherwise be lost to neglect, starvation, or abuse. These animals cannot fend for themselves, and without animal welfare organizations like ours stepping in, many would die unnoticed.

It is also important to recognize that rescuing and giving support to these animals is a collaboration. Asking for support once these animals are rescued isn’t begging. Rescue work is a community effort, and no single organization can do it alone. The reality is, the more support we receive - adopting, fostering, donating - the more animals we can help.

If no one steps up for these animals, who will? Instead of criticizing efforts to save lives, we encourage people to reflect on how they can be part of the solution. Compassion and kindness to animals should never be ridiculed but should instead be innate in everyone.

FIFTY PESOS FRIDAY on Valentine’s Day ❤️💜💚

This Valentine’s Day, we humbly ask for your help to share love with our rescued animals who depend on us. For over 12 years, we’ve been rescuing animals who were abandoned, neglected, or left to fend for themselves.

With hundreds of rescues to feed, every meal is a gift made possible by your generosity. A simple fifty pesos can help fill their bowls. Our rescues, especially our dogs, consume two sacks of dog food per meal, and their needs are growing every day.

Thank you for making them a part of your Valentine’s Day. Your love and compassion mean the world to them. 💖

Happy Valentine’s Day, from all of us and our rescues! 🐾❤️

We often receive donations of ₱50, ₱100, or similar amounts, and many of you apologize, thinking it’s "too small." No amount is ever too small when it comes from a heart that wants to help. Every peso you send, every bit of support you give, brings us closer to providing for the hundreds of rescued animals under our care.

Today, we were able to buy 1 sack of dogfood, half a sack of catfood and farm animal feeds. While it isn’t enough to cover all their meals, it has helped ease the burden of ensuring they don’t go hungry. Whatever is lacking, we will make sure to provide, but this—your support—has already been a tremendous help to us.

We see your generosity, and we are deeply grateful. Thank you for reminding us that we are not alone in this mission. Together, we can continue to fight for them.

From us and all of our rescues who depend on your kindness, thank you! 🐾❤️

Our newly weaned rescued kittens have started eating solid food, and we need your help to provide for their growing appetites. With very little funds right now and the need to also buy dog food for our rescues, we’re struggling to make ends meet.

We would greatly appreciate any help you could extend for their much-needed meals. 😽

Thank you so much! 💞

Help Us Keep Their Bowls Full 🐾
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/128vLCJXFo1/

Running a sanctuary means juggling countless expenses every day, and right now, we need help covering one of the most essential ones—dog food. We go through two sacks a day, each costing ₱1,510, and with a little shelter funds left, we’re reaching out to anyone who may be able to pitch in, even just a little. 🙏

We will always find a way to provide for them, but any help would mean so much. Please help us help them—no amount is too small, and every bit of support adds up to full and happy bellies.

Thank you for standing by our rescues. 🐾

"Uy Whoopsie kanina ka pa hinahanap, nakiki marites ka lang pala sa naglalambingan." 🤭😸

On a serious note, in a world that often feels heavy with negativity, let’s take a moment to pause, reflect, and focus on the good. There is still kindness, love, and hope all around us—we just need to open our hearts to see it.

Let today be a reminder to choose kindness, to speak words that uplift, and to extend compassion not just to people but to all living beings. The world needs more understanding, more love, and more gentle hearts.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and beautiful Sunday. 💞

We Share This Earth—Not Own It! 🐾
Humans do not own the Earth. Through urbanization, we have taken nearly every space for ourselves, leaving little to no room for animals to live.

If the end goal of communities like DMCI Properties is to completely eradicate the presence of cats in their surroundings—to achieve what they call a "zero-cat" population—then the decision to remove these already vaccinated, spayed, and neutered community cats is not only cruel but also ineffective.

Ineffective, because removing them will not solve anything. Instead, it will create a vacuum effect—new, unsterilized cats will move into the vacated space, and without intervention, their population will continue to grow. It will just be a cycle of what is perceived as a problem. This is why responsible programs like Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) exist—it is a proven, humane, and effective method for managing community cat populations while allowing them to live peacefully in their environment.

These existing cats are cared for by animal welfare advocates who ensure they are healthy, vaccinated, and no longer reproducing. They are fed regularly, reducing their need to scavenge for food in homes or garbage. Additionally, cats are naturally crepuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk and spend much of the day sleeping, making them far less of a disturbance than commonly assumed.

Impounding these cats is a death sentence. Most pounds operate on limited space and resources, and impounded animals are euthanized after a few days if unclaimed, meaning their cruel fate is almost always sealed the moment they are taken in.

DMCI Homes please reconsider your decision to remove these community cats. There are humane and effective ways (as already presented by Cats of Kai Garden Residences) to address what you may perceive as a problem while allowing peaceful coexistence with these animals. Removing them will not solve the issue. Instead of eradication, we urge you to work with the animal welfare advocates who have already taken responsibility for these cats so that the community can coexist with them without conflict.

At the end of the day, this planet belongs to them as much as it does to us. It isn’t rocket science!
