𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 || The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) advises the public to refrain from purchasing poultry products such as chicken and Peking duck meat smuggled from the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The importation of poultry meat and related products from the PRC is banned through Department of Agriculture Memorandum Order No. 1, Series of 2014 due to the prevalence of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus and its subtypes, which is transmissible to humans.
To ensure consumer safety, NMIS urges everyone to carefully check product labels to verify the country of origin and prioritize locally sourced or NMIS-certified products. If you encounter suspicious or unlabeled items, please report them immediately to NMIS.
Trading or selling of undocumented or smuggled meat is a violation of R.A. No 9296, as amended by R.A. No. 10536, otherwise known as the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines, and R.A. No. 12022, or the Anti-Agricultural Sabotage Act of 2024, and is punishable by imprisonment, penalty of fine, or both.
Your safety is our priority.
