Are aquarium water changes necessary?

Yes!!!! because it restore and maintain a balanced aquarium by physically removing and diluting harmful chemicals as well as replenishing vital elements. Whether you have a fresh or saltwater aquarium, it is good practice to perform routine water changes.

However, if you change the water of your tank, it should be done according to the right practice. Don't remove the fish from your tank instead just change at least 10 to 25 percent to ensure that there will no abrupt changes on the water temperature and the ph level of your tank.

Always remember that drastic changes on the water temperature in your tank could kill your fish.

Fish Keeping Basic Knowledge:

LAVA ROCKS are covered by holes and pores that have beneficial bacteria, which is called denitrifying bacteria. These bacteria can help in keeping normal nitrogen cycles in your aquarium. These bacteria help break nitrate to form oxygen and nitrogen and help your fish grow in a cleaner and much healthier environment.

PHOROUS or CERAMIC RINGS are also biological media that provides a very large surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow and live. This bacteria on your ceramic rings is required to complete the Nitrogen Cycle in your tank, which converts harmful ammonia and nitrite in to the less harmful nitrate.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR NEW FISH TANK:

1. Buy a new fish tank according to your choice.
2. Spot the best part in your house where your tank to be placed.
3. Clean and rinse your tank thoroughly to illiminate possible bacterias dwelling on it.
4. Wash thoroughly all accessories that you want to put on your tank.
5. Set up all the things inside your tank according to your own imagination.
6. Carefully filled your tank with dechlorinated water.
7. Let the water of your tank cycled for at least 24 hours.
8. Check if your filtration and aeration are running.
9. Add your favorite fish but be sure that all fish you want to put in your tank must undergo at least 15 minutes acclimatization.
10. Enjoy watching you fish.

Here are the 10 best ways to keep your aquarium bubbling with happy, healthy fish.

1. Give everything that goes into the tank a good rinse in normal tap water, beforehand.

2. To avoid sickie fishies, never use soaps or chemicals to clean anything.

3. Keep the water safe for your scaly sidekicks by using a water ager or conditioner, every time you add tap water.

4. Add to your finny family slowly – don’t add more than a couple of fish each week, when starting out. (This depends on your tank size too, of course.)

5. Allow a few weeks to fill your aquarium with fish. By doing your tank right, you’ll save time and money.

6. Remember that even a Blowfish’s tummy is about the size of his eye, so only feed your fish small amounts.

7. Give your tank a partial water change every two weeks to maintain high-quality H2O: That’s about 20 percent, or one bucket for every 50L, fishies.

8. Always seek advise to seasoned fish keeper if there are problems on your tank and fishes.

FACTS ABOUT HORNET CICHLID:

Pseudotropheus crabro, the Bumblebee Cichlid or Hornet Cichlid, is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi in the southernmost of the East African Rift System, located between Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique.

Hornet Cichlid are found in different habitats but most frequently in large caves or in the vicinity of large boulders. This species can reach a length of 9.4 centimetres.

Needlefish or long toms are piscivorous fishes primarily associated with very shallow marine habitats or the surface of the open sea.
