An aggressive dog is not just trying to be difficult while grooming, he has a reason, and understanding that reason will help you counteract it and deal with aggression. Dogs can be aggressive during grooming due to pain from current or past medical conditions. Check with your veterinarian if you think this might be an issue.

The Philippines have the highest rate of pet ownership among the Southeast Asian countries at 83%, led by dogs at 67%, cats at 43%, fish at 13%, and birds at 10% (Rakuten Insights, 2021).

As of 2017, consumption of pet food in the Philippines was at an all-time high, due to a surge in pet owners with more willingness to spend more on their pets’ health. It is estimated that there are about 13.6 million dogs and 1.8 million cats in 2016. As such, the pet food sales were expected to grow accordingly (Euromonitor, 2016)

Pets are a part of the family for many households, and this is especially true in the Philippines where two-thirds of households own a dog and more than four in 10 households own a cat. The number of pet owners increased during 2020 and 2021, with the increase also bringing an increase in the size of the pet market in the country. Experts forecast that growth will continue, although it is likely to slow now that people have been allowed back to work and to continue with some semblance of normal daily life.

Many people groom their dogs to keep them looking and smelling good, however, grooming your pets has many more health benefits than this. Below are 5 benefits of regularly grooming your pet.

1. Check For Fleas & Parasites
By getting your pet groomed regularly, your groomer will check for fleas and parasites in places that you may not notice. If your groomer does detect something, they can either provide flea treatment or refer you to a veterinarian that can help. A trip to the groomer can keep your pet from dealing with undetected and uncomfortable fleas.

2.Healthy Nails
Trimming your pet’s nails regularly is important for your pet’s comfort and health. However, you may find your pet gives you a hard time sitting still if you try to trim them yourself. This is where a professional groomer comes in! Groomers can easily trim your pet’s nails keeping them comfortable and avoiding future health issues, such as arthritis.

3.Less Shedding
Excessive shedding can cause your allergies to act up and create a need for constant cleaning in your home. Getting your pet groomed regularly removes dead fur, causing your furry friend to shed less.

4.Prevents Ear Infections
Not only do groomers shampoo your pet and trim their nails, but they also will clean your pet’s ears. Removing the dirt from your pet’s ears will help prevent future ear infections.

5.Happier Pet
Keeping your pet clean and healthy helps improve their mood and makes for a happier pet! Just like how you feel good when you take care of yourself, so does your pet. Taking your pet to a groomer regularly can also improve your pet’s socialization skills.

Whether you have a dog or long-haired cat, it is important for your pet’s health and cleanliness to get them groomed regularly. Contact us to schedule an appointment for your furry friend.

Why do some people love dogs so much?

I find them fascinating. Especially highly intelligent, stubborn dogs. If you get over the surface of “he’s my dog and he should do what I say because I’m his owner” you’ll find another form of intelligence, with a different (but strong) logic, with primary rules and instincts that for us, humans, are long forgotten… or dormant. I love learning about dogs from them. Not from a training: from a dog. They can teach you things as well, if you start to unveil the reasoning behind the “silly” things they do. There’s always a reason. In many ways, they’re more logical, more brutal, more fair than us. They’re closer to what mother nature meant us to be, long ago. Their world is a cruel one, or cruel according to our standards, but it’s far away from hypocrisy and lies.

You find “over-emotional” dogs. For them, that’s an unbalanced dog. They aim for survival. Not necessarily survival of the strongest. It’s always survival of the smartest. For them that’s not “cute”. It’s plain stupid. And dangerous. They don’t take mood swings very well. No compassion here - they’ll help with immediate danger, try to correct and eventually give up on the “cry babies” as they don’t fit the ultimate purpose: staying alive.

They play strategy games. Every chase in a dog park will have bits and pieces of strategy in it. Some of them are really clever: ie finding shortcuts, approaching from different angles. Almost military stuff. And they clearly enjoy it: it’s fun. It’s food for their brain.

They play team games: again, see a pack chasing something. They’re damn well organized and perfectly play their role in the team. They don’t need to do a thousand repetitions. They just know it.

They know how to get what they want. “Puppy eyes” is a way to get what they want: because we respond to it. Nope, your dog is not sad. He’s just manipulating you. Because he tried and he found out it works. So he’ll apply it again. And again.

Barking and showing teeth and making “mean” faces: again, he knows it works. He wants someone to go away and that’s the way to make the person or animal go away. He’s not mad or something. I’ve seen a trainer telling an “aggressive” dog that everyone avoided “cut this s**t.” On a calm voice. And the trainer just passed by, ignoring the dog. Well, the pooch was literally left open mouth, with a very confused look on his face: what the heck?! What did I do wrong? This human is not scared of my most scary face?!?!
Then he turned around, and was like …”ok, then”. He went to mind his own business. He was defeated. But he tried. And it worked, previously.

They’re awesome parents. Both. I’ve learned it when I had a litter and I had both parents raising the puppies. The father is just as involved as the mother in protecting their offspring. He’s very hands on. It’s amazing to observe how they teach their small balls of fluff how to be a dog. It’s amazing to see parents not agreeing on corrections: when the father pushes the puppy away and the mother calmly gets in between. There are many similarities and many differences versus the way we raise our kids: but they don’t read parenting books. And they don’t need to. They do a brilliant job anyway - without anyone helping and teaching them.

In summary: I love them for what they are, I am honored they are my friends and and I respect the chance to learn from them about their world.

What goes on in the mind of a dog?
(looks at food that you're eating) Is that for me?
Can I have some please?
I want to randomly run about the house because I can
I'm awesome
I love you. Why did you leave me alone for twenty minutes when you went for a shower?
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I've been waiting for like, ten years now (although it's been only an hour)
I caught my tail today
I caught a bird today. I did you a favor. No bird p**p anywhere
Can I have more food?
Why do you keep my treats out of reach?
I'm lonely
I'm lonely and hungry
You asked me to fetch the ball. I fetched. You didn't say I had to give it back (every time!)
Don't leave me alone!
Let me sing you the song of my ancestors at 3 AM
I see a puny insect. I must investigate and play with it
I am mighty. I can bite your bloody hand off. What's that? You want me to sit for treat? Sure! I'm a good boy!
Look at me. LOOK. LOOK! I have your towel (proceeds to run away with towel)

I'm adorable
Furniture is a different kind of chew toy, right?
You can never leave me alone. You're gone? (sad face) When will you come back? I'm waiting for you

These are some really important questions to ask before blaming a dog for unwanted behaviors.

Remember, WE brought these dogs into our homes. They are forced to deal with the energy that is being provided inside and outside the environment they live in.

Dogs are 100% honest about how they feel about their life. We have to stop blaming them or seeking to "fix them."

We need to start paying attention to ourselves and the role we play in the relationship with a dog.

Of course there are dogs who come into your life from rescues, shelters, etc. who have already been through stuff and comes with traumas.

Understand your energy and your skills before emotionally trying to take on a case that is incompatible with you.

We don't have a dog behavior problem in the world. Dogs know what to do. We have a human awareness issue, a human trauma issue that dogs are suffering for.

We are bringing dogs into our disorder and when they have a hard time we blame them.

We need to HEAL as a species so we can heal dogs and other animals from what we have created.

When will us humans become truly accountable and stop the fu**in blame game? I know it's scary to look within. We hide from our traumas and avoid them only to allow them to continuously create disorder in purr lives and then our dogs.

I've done ALOT of healing over the years. That is what allowed me to achieve balanced dogs. 🌎

Dogs ...

They tell you not to cry.
They tell you that it's just a dog, not a human being.
They tell you that the pain will be over.
They tell you that the animals don't know that they have to die.
They tell you that it's important not to let him suffer.
They tell you that you can have another one.
They tell you it's going to happen to you.
They tell you that there is more pain.
But they don't know how many times you've looked into your dog’s eyes.
They don't know how many times you and your dog have looked into darkness alone.
They don't know how many times your dog was the only one who was by your side.
They don't know how much fear you have
at night when you wake up with your grief.
They don't know how many times your dog slept near you.
They don't know how much you've changed since the dog has become a part of your life.
They don't know how many times you hugged him when he was sick.
They don't know how many times you've acted like you didn't see his hair getting whiter.
They don't know how many times you've talked to your dog, the only one who really hears.
They don't know that it was just your dog who knew you were in pain.
They don't know what it feels like to see your old dog trying to get up to say hello.
They don't know that if things went wrong, the only one who didn't go is your dog.
They don't know that your dog trusts you every moment of his life, even in the last.
They don't know how much your dog loved you and how it is enough for him to be happy, because you loved him.
They don't know that crying for a dog is one of the most noble, significant, true, purest and warmest things you can do.
They don't know when the last time you moved him with trouble... making sure it didn’t hurt him.
They don't know what it felt like to pet their face in the last moments of their life....

Marty, Dawson & Nico wanted to remind you that the answers on how to live a fulfilling happy life are found inside of you.

As humans, we think making more money, finding a partner, getting in shape, securing a better job, buying more s**t or moving a different location will eventually bring happiness.

The problem is that is all external which means the internal did not change so you will be holding on to the same traumas that cause you to be triggered.

You may have more money, a better job, a spouse, etc. but the internal has not been dealt with.

Every human is responsible for their own healing and understanding who they are at the core. We were brought into a society with A LOT of issues as children.

That’s not our fault. That being said, it is our fault if we allow that disorder to control us for the entirety of our lives. All people experience traumas (everything from tiny to enormous) but most spend their whole entire lives being controlled by these traumas.

So how do we heal?!!! It starts by looking. Pay attention to your thoughts. When you start think about how s**tty the day is going to be, look at that. You were not born that way, therefore that is not you. Someone or some event taught you to view things negatively. By seeing it, you are starting the process of becoming aware.

Dogs don’t understand why we are so imbalanced as a species, they are just aware that we tend to be unstable and therefore should not be respected or trusted.

After doing this for 13 years, I’ve realized that we don’t have a dog problem in the world, we have a human trauma problem that is causing dogs to become unstable in our presence.

I’ve done a lot of healing over the years. A lot of looking at the thoughts 💭 that pop into my head. I realized so many aren’t even mine, they were taught to me.

Now I pay CLOSE attention to what I think and feel. If I feel annoyed, I talk a LONG look at that. I pay attention. I now have strategies to recover from that state (ex. breathing exercises, observing, etc.) Each time that happens I become more and more aware of myself!

Our dogs desperately want us to heal. It’s time to heal together as a pack.❤️

Pets will instinctively hide their pain as a survival mechanism, which, in the past, led well-meaning experts to presume that dogs did not feel pain the same way humans do. We now know that dogs have a nervous system very similar to humans, and we know better how to recognize and manage their pain.
