Join us at the Philippine Book Festival, happening March 13-16 at Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall, where books, art, and culture come together in one unforgettable experience!

One of the festival's key artworks this year takes inspiration from the lively Pahiyas Festival, brought to life by the talented Pepot Atienza.

As an illustrator and animator passionate about storytelling, Pepot’s work spans beloved children’s books to internationally recognized stop-motion films—each filled with color, creativity, and fun.

Pepot is just one of four incredible artists we’re featuring this year. Stay tuned to discover the rest and see how their unique styles bring the Philippine Book Festival to life!

On December 9, 2024, Edgar Trono, President of OMF Literature, was voted to fill a vacant seat in the Book Development Association of the Philippines’ Board of Trustees. With a quorum of 36 member-companies, Mr. Trono was voted by the general assembly to fill in the vacancy created by a recent resignation in the 11-member Board of Trustees. Mr. Trono will serve for the remainder of the current board’s term, or until December 31, 2025.

With the theme Back to the ‘80s, BDAP members gathered at the Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig City to celebrate the year and enjoy each other’s company. BDAP President Andrea Pasion-Flores shared the highlights and activities of the year 2024 in her President's Report, while giving an overview of what lies ahead in 2025 when Philippine publishers are set to create a more international presence by participating in various international book fairs leading up to being guest of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2025.

Aside from raffle prizes, and an exchange of gifts, the evening was made more special with the presence of the 24K band, a 10-member group that performed various hits from the fifties to the nineties.

The Book Development Association of the Philippines is the largest publishing industry association of the country with almost 130 regular and associate members. Created in 1979, the BDAP celebrates its 45th year this year. BDAP was responsible for lobbying for RA 8047, otherwise known as “The Book Publishing Industry Development Act,” which is the charter of the National Book Development Board. It administers the biennial Gintong Aklat Awards, which recognizes the best in Philippine publishing. It conducts capacity-building seminars for its stakeholders. It was the private publishers’ organization that applied to be guest of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Who owns the copyright to my work? How do I get copyright for the book I just published? Should my publishing contract really be this short or this long? What are some “red flags” and “green flags” in a publishing contract?

These are some questions that you might have in mind when you start making your way through the world of book publishing. These questions and more will be tackled during the “Copyright 101 and Publishing Contracts” session by PaperKat Books, the Filipinas Copyright Licensing Society (FILCOLS), and Kahel Press during the event “How to Write a Book and Publish It.”

Join us on November 16 (Saturday) from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Estancia Mall. Learn the basics of copyright from long-time copyright advocates Alvin Buenaventura and Beverly Siy. Identify what could be some red flags and green flags in publishing contracts with Wowie Catabijan, the editor of Kahel Press.

Become a member of FILCOLS for free. Free notarial services will be available at the event for those who apply for membership with FILCOLS. Register here to receive reminders about the event and to begin preparing your membership forms.
