PVMA Receives Award for Significant Contribution to the Island Garden City of Samal
In a celebration marking the 27th founding anniversary of the Island Garden City of Samal, the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) was commended by no less than the City Mayor, Hon Mayor Al David T. Uy for its outstanding contributions and efforts alongside other public and private stakeholders who have made a significant impact in the city.
Dr. Jerry V. Alcantara, PVMA President received the award on March 6 2025, for PVMA’s tireless commitment to improving the welfare of both animals and the community. One of the key initiatives that led to PVMA’s recognition was the successful PVMA Trainers’ Training on Advanced Surgical Techniques in Spay and Castration for Small Animals held in the city early this year under the PVMA Rabies Elimination (PRE) Initiative flagship program. The event was met with positive feedback from the residents of the Island Garden City of Samal and played a crucial role in the city's ongoing efforts to improve animal welfare. The PVMA-Southern Mindanao Chapter, represented by President Fernando Edullantes Jr. was also recognized for their outstanding contributions to the island.
The recognition from the Island Garden City of Samal serves as a reminder of the PVMA’s continued commitment to public service, not just within the veterinary community, but also in fostering partnerships that improve the quality of life in local communities. As the organization moves forward, PVMA remains steadfast in its commitment to work hand-in-hand with local government units, private partners, and communities to continue making a positive impact on society, as evidenced by its recent award in Davao.
