"Mallari movie review"

Finally, nagkaroon ako ng opportunity last weekend to watch "Mallari" on Netflix.

Honestly, bumaba yung initial curiosity ko for the movie because of the numerous bad reviews I read about it from bloggers.

Kesyo cringe-worthy ang effects, di masyadong cohesive ang storyline, & "outrageous" na presented sya as a jump-scare horror flick.

Sana daw nag-stick na lang sa story ni Juan Severino Mallari, the infamous serial killer priest in the Spanish-era Philippines.

Anyway, ako kasi overall nagandahan ako sa pelikula. I like how the story of Padre Mallari was given a twist.

In fact, I think it's the closest to the actual story of Padre Mallari who believed that killing people would cure his mother's ailments, whom he also believed as cursed (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Severino_Mallari).

Before I proceed pala, "Mallari" was meant to be a horror movie, so better to keep that in mind.

The movie can be an actual representation of Mallari's own supposed hallucinations & mental illness.

Now, going back to the actual plot of the film, yes it's not perfect, some scenes may even be too fantastical.

Yung makeup naman talaga ni Donya Facunda mas makatotohanan pa ang Undin, tsaka nakakatawa yung scene ng paglunok ng sisiw ng isa sa mga characters portrayed by Piolo (Johnrey Mallari).

Pero yun, all in all, nag-enjoy ako sa movie. Maayos ang story though may ilang scenes lang na di na-execute ng maganda. Beyond that, naiparamdam naman sakin yung supposed conflict within Padre Mallari's head on being forced to choose killing people to keep his beloved mother alive.

Bilang horror fan, I would rate it at 3.5/5.

A few weeks ago, we had a dog show at the Pabialahay (Pabinyagan ng mga Alagang Hayop) tradition or yearly pet blessing held at Maple Grove by Megaworld in General Trias, Cavite.

This event coincides with the feast of St. Francis Assisi, considered the patron saint of animals and the natural environment. We’re glad that the attendees at the Pabialahay loved the tricks done by our smart dogs.
