Dengue Awareness from Doc Ferds Animal Wellness Center 🦟

Dengue is a viral infection transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes that can cause high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, and a characteristic rash. It can also lead to minor bleeding, and in severe cases, it may develop into dengue hemorrhagic fever.

Causes & Symptoms:
Dengue is transmitted by mosquitoes. Watch out for high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle/joint pain, rash, and sometimes minor bleeding.

Signs & Diagnosis:
If you notice these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. Diagnosis is typically confirmed through blood tests that detect the virus.

Prevention & Management:
Prevent mosquito bites by eliminating standing water, using repellents, and installing screens. While there’s no specific antiviral treatment for dengue, early supportive care like hydration, rest, and fever management is essential.
