Is your pet a side-eye pro? A snack thief with a smug face? Or a pure ball of chaotic energy who deserves a spot in the meme hall of fame? Now’s your chance to make them an internet legend. In collaboration with Centrovet Animal Clinic, here’s how to enter and make your pet the meme sensation they were always meant to be:

1. This contest is open to all bonafide CLSU students and can register their pawsitively hilarious pets by filling out a Google Form with a minimal ₱30 registration fee to officially enter the contest. Strictly, 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓, 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐘 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘.

A Tale of Two Uteri

We had two special patients, Minty and Suzy, both here for an ovariohysterectomy (spay surgery) but with very different conditions.

🐾 Minty’s Story: Minty came in with pyometra, a severe infection in the uterus that can cause life-threatening complications if not treated. Her uterus was swollen and filled with infection, requiring urgent surgery. Thanks to quick action and her incredible spirit, Minty’s on the road to recovery and feeling better already!

🐾 Suzy’s Story: Suzy, on the other hand, came in for a routine spay. Her uterus was healthy and normal, and her surgery will help prevent pyometra in the future, along with reducing her risk of certain cancers. By spaying her early, Suzy’s owners are giving her a healthier life ahead.

Why Spay?

Spaying isn’t just about preventing unwanted litters. It’s also about protecting against serious health issues like pyometra. We’re so happy that both Minty and Suzy are doing well after their surgeries and are on their way to happier, healthier lives! 🐶💕

A Serious Mite Infestation in Cats

Is your cat excessively scratching, losing fur, or developing scabby lesions around the ears, face, or neck? These could be signs of Notoedres cati infestation, a type of mange caused by mites. This parasitic condition is highly contagious between cats and can lead to severe skin irritation and secondary infections.

Symptoms to watch for:

•Intense itching and scratching
•Hair loss (especially around the ears, face, and neck)
•Crusty, scabby skin lesions
•Redness and inflammation
•Thickened or wrinkled skin

Prevention Tips:

•Keep your cat indoors or limit interactions with unknown animals
•Regularly check your pet’s skin for signs of irritation
•Maintain proper hygiene in multi-cat households

If your cat shows any of these symptoms, contact your vet for advice and get ahead of the problem 🙂

How many puppies can you spot?

An X-ray can be incredibly helpful for expecting pet parents! Here’s why:

1. Accurate Litter Size

X-rays can reveal the number of puppies or kittens, helping you prepare for the delivery and monitor the full litter.

2. Positioning and Health of the Babies

Knowing if any of the little ones are positioned incorrectly or showing any signs of distress can help vets plan for a safe delivery.

3. Detecting Potential Complications Early

Larger litters or larger individual babies might require additional help during birth. An X-ray can help predict the need for a C-section and other interventions.

4. When’s the Best Time?

X-rays are safest after about 50-55 days of pregnancy, when the bones of the babies have developed enough to be visible without causing any risk.

If your pet is expecting, talk to your vet about scheduling an X-ray. This extra step can bring peace of mind and help ensure a smooth, safe delivery for both mom and babies! 🐶🐱

Mimao's Journey: Overcoming a Severe Infection

Mimao endured a challenging battle with a severe infection that required nearly two months of intensive treatment and multiple rounds of wound debridement. This type of infection can happen when wounds fail to heal properly, allowing bacteria to spread and cause significant damage.

Mimao’s infection led to ongoing inflammation, pain, and tissue damage. The treatment involved frequent vet visits, thorough wound cleaning, and careful monitoring. Wound debridement—removal of infected and dead tissue—was essential to help Mimao’s body heal properly.

Thanks to diligent care and Mimao’s resilience, he has made a remarkable recovery. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of timely intervention and consistent veterinary care for severe infections in our pets.

Is your furbaby scratching their ears excessively or shaking their head more than usual? It might be those pesky ear mites causing discomfort. The ear mite is microscopic parasite that usually found in the ear canal but it can also live on the skin surface. Ear mites are highly contagious, and animals become infested by direct contact with another infested animal. Spotting the Signs: • Excessive scratching or pawing at the ears • Head shaking or tilting • Dark, crumbly debris in the ear • Foul odor from the ears • Redness or inflammation in the ear canal Schedule a visit to the veterinarian for a proper diagnosis.
