This contest is open to all bonafide CLSU students and can register their pawsitively hilarious pets by filling out a Google Form with a minimal โ‚ฑ30 registration fee to officially enter the contest. Strictly, ๐Ž๐๐„ ๐’๐“๐”๐ƒ๐„๐๐“, ๐Ž๐๐„ ๐„๐๐“๐‘๐˜ ๐Ž๐๐‹๐˜.

A Tale of Two Uteri

We had two special patients, Minty and Suzy, both here for an ovariohysterectomy (spay surgery) but with very different conditions.

๐Ÿพ Mintyโ€™s Story: Minty came in with pyometra, a severe infection in the uterus that can cause life-threatening complications if not treated. Her uterus was swollen and filled with infection, requiring urgent surgery. Thanks to quick action and her incredible spirit, Mintyโ€™s on the road to recovery and feeling better already!

๐Ÿพ Suzyโ€™s Story: Suzy, on the other hand, came in for a routine spay. Her uterus was healthy and normal, and her surgery will help prevent pyometra in the future, along with reducing her risk of certain cancers. By spaying her early, Suzyโ€™s owners are giving her a healthier life ahead.

Why Spay?

Spaying isnโ€™t just about preventing unwanted litters. Itโ€™s also about protecting against serious health issues like pyometra. Weโ€™re so happy that both Minty and Suzy are doing well after their surgeries and are on their way to happier, healthier lives! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’•

A Serious Mite Infestation in Cats

Is your cat excessively scratching, losing fur, or developing scabby lesions around the ears, face, or neck? These could be signs of Notoedres cati infestation, a type of mange caused by mites. This parasitic condition is highly contagious between cats and can lead to severe skin irritation and secondary infections.

Symptoms to watch for:

โ€ขIntense itching and scratching
โ€ขHair loss (especially around the ears, face, and neck)
โ€ขCrusty, scabby skin lesions
โ€ขRedness and inflammation
โ€ขThickened or wrinkled skin

Prevention Tips:
