ATTENTION PUPPY OWNERS! We've been seeing an increase in Canine Parvo Viral Infection patients lately for those residing along South Caloocan and Manila area. If your puppies are already 6 weeks above please have them vaccinated for 5in1 or 8in1 as this disease is easily preventable. Please please please, prevention is way better and cheaper than cure.
If you're seeing signs of inappetence, vomiting and diarrhea have them checked as soon as those symptoms showed up. Canine parvo viral infection is a highly infectious disease that affects mostly puppies but all dogs are susceptible. It affects the dogs' gastrointestinal tracts and is spread by direct dog-to-dog contact and contact with contaminated f***s (stool), environments, or people. It is resistant to heat, cold, humidity, and drying, and can survive in the environment for long periods of time. Even trace amounts of f***s from an infected dog may harbor the virus and infect other dogs that come into the infected environment. The virus is readily transmitted from place to place on the hair or feet of dogs or via contaminated cages, shoes, or other objects.
Some of the signs of parvovirus include lethargy; loss of appetite; abdominal pain and bloating; fever or low body temperature (hypothermia); vomiting; and severe, often bloody diarrhea. Persistent vomiting and diarrhea can cause rapid dehydration, and damage to the intestines and immune system can cause septic shock. Most deaths from parvovirus occur within 48 to 72 hours following the onset of clinical signs. If your puppy or dog shows any of these signs, please bring your puppy to the nearest veterinary clinic for immediate diagnosis and treatment.
Parvo viral infection is not a cheap disease, it could drain your wallets but it is a preventable disease. Have your pups vaccinated and don't let your new pup go out of the house. If you have a new dog, learn to quarantine before mixing him/her up with your previous dogs to avoid spread if pup is already incubating. Proper disinfection and handling your new pup may save him/her. Don't let your pup be a victim of this deadly virus, have them vaccinated!
This post is intended to share info and not for people to post their self medication treatments. Weβve been seeing comments feeding their dogs yakult, smp500, turmeric, nano silver and such. Consult your vets please. Do not self medicate as this may further harm your pet. You might think that βyourβ treatment worked on your pet but it was just coincidence. Licensed and knowledgeable veterinarians do not recommend these kinds of βtreatmentsβ and weβre not in it for the money. Weβre trying to inform you so that you may not impair your dogβs prognosis. Consult your vet! Its your duty as a pet owner to be informed with the right knowledge by a vet and not by just a random dude you met on facebook recommending this and that. Your veterinarian studied for 6 years to treat your dog, trust them please. We will be further banning comments with self medication recommendations especially those recommending βtoxicβ remedies.
Also please note that we donβt do online consultation. If you have questions regarding your pet please visit us as some sypmtoms may appear the same but believe us every disease is different with physical examination. Your rightful doctor needs to see your pet physically to give the right diagnosis and treatment.
